They know what a .22 is, that's for sure.

One more track that I haven't used but at a Polkfest at HQ, I know Stu was in the room, I think Al was there too and someone from sales but I can't remember for sure. They were demo'ing the brand new LSi-RTS105 in-wall speakers in the HT demo room. I don't remember the source, I want to say it was a Denon SACD/DVD player…

So the rodent saw his shadow. It's actually a little more than 6 weeks until March 19th. It's like 6 weeks and 3 days. So stick that in your pipe and smoke it you stupid rodent. Heh. Gobbler's Knob...makes me laugh every year!

Is that performance art like when Beck sampled a vacuum cleaner running through a feedback filter and made a whole song with it? 'Cause it sounds like Billain dropped the mixing board down a flight of stairs, played it back out of curiosity and thought "Now there's a hit song!"

I was told that the only reason to keep them out of the sun is because UV will cause the wood to darken and if you plan on staining the wood, it can cause finishes to look different. I'm not planning on staining with anymore than a blonde stain if I do because every time I've done that, especially on red oak, it brings out…

Depends. If I don't have access to the Internet (depends on what rig it is) I will throw in "Towards Home" by Jonathan Elias. Just listen to it. It's a stellar test track especially for SDA demos. On an SDA rig that violin is absolutely ethereal and floats all over the sound stage while everything else stays planted right…

Ya know, I keep hearing people say that folks aged faster prior to, like, the 1980's and I keep thinking that it's just artifacts of stuff like the quality of the film used to take pictures and stuff or just the dated hair and clothing styles but... ...in that video Del Shannon is only like 28 years old. He looks like he's…

It's been a year since we last visited this thread so I figured I'd necro it because why the frick not? Feelin' the hate lately on something specific lately. There is no 'e' in Camaro you thundering, mouth breathing morons. Also, if you are pondering something you are WONDERING about it. If you are WANDERING about…

They're the wired Hinge headphones. I don't think the wireless ones came out for another few years and these were a first release right around a Polkfest. I haven't had a chance to look at them real good yet. I had to get back on a training class and just shoved them off to the side after a cursory glance. I went digging…

Yeah, Ultrafocus 8000, those are the over-the-ear noise cancelling ones I won in a raffle. I think I bought the earbuds at a steep discount. I still use the earbuds, I have the 8000's in a box somewhere, haven't touched them in a while.
-
Yeah, they had a few offerings and I still have a set of noise cancelling earbuds which aren't as good as the noise cancelling from Bose but the sound quality is the best I've had from any earbud, even newer ones like this Airpods or whatever Apple calls them. I also have a set of over the ear noise cancelling headphones…

They were a "door prize" at one of the Polkfests. I want to say 2012. I used them pretty regularly. They were great for travel and since they're white/brown/silver, many people complimented me on the styling and assumed they were either extremely high end headphones they never heard of or they were something like BEATS…

Thanks, that means a lot. A lot of good it does me!

No, you use the spare tire so you can put the car back on the ground and move to the next corner when you only have one jack. When you are done moving your wheels to the appropriate corners, you have your spare left over and you put that back in it's storage spot. Your spare tire goes back in your storage space when you…

I'm not sure what you're getting at otherwise I'd address it.

Then the only rotation you're doing is when they are rolling down the road!
-
For those wondering how to rotate your tires at home, you need, at the minimum, your spare tire and a jack of any kind. Preferably a floor jack, makes life simpler and faster and at least one pair of jack stands aids in the simpler and faster thing. Two pairs of jack stands is ideal and then you don't need the spare tire.…

Oh, yeah, I used to sell tires when I was in college to help pay for school. If you need new tires, Bridgestone makes a few nice ones and I believe they are still running a promotion that gets you a steep discount. We just put new Potenzas on the Escape. Should have been about $1600 installed but with the sale price and…
-
Yeah, 10 years is generous for tire age. At the diesel shop I worked at, NHTSA and NJDOT had rules that trucks over a certain GVW (I think it was 55k pounds) were not allowed to install new tires that were more than 3 years old. Also, for anything with an 80K+ GVW, tires could not be more than 5 years old. Under that we…

Are you up for rotating them yourself?

The few that moved here in the past few months were priced under what the market was looking for. Only one went for over asking price. A couple others only sold because a business is looking to plow them down and build a new structure on a re-zoning. Every other property that's been up for sale for longer than 2 weeks has…

There's a few investment companies who snapped up a bunch of houses to flip in my area. They didn't flip them fast enough and now they are trying to rent them out. There's tons on the market that are owned my property management and/or holdings companies though. You can usually see it on tax records for the address for…

When I go out to Zillow or Redfin here and look for houses for sale within a 20 mile radius, I have over 2200 active listings. My town alone has 12 listings active with 3 under contract. The newest listing is 14 days old, the oldest listing is 290 days old. That 290 is older than that, though, because it went off-market…

Saw this on LinkedIn this morning: https://www.linkedin.com/news/story/rate-hikes-could-be-milder-6145762/ The rate hikes the feds are talking about here? They are all due to be in place before April 1. Even these milder rate hikes are still going to push to 5.5% - 6% by summer unless they decide inflation has cooled.…

In all honestly, like I said, kiln drying is the way to go if you want to do it fast. But, the problem with it is it's expensive. The two rounds I have they told me $500 and they would have it for like 2 weeks at least, depending on what the moisture measurements were at the end of the first round. They couldn't guarantee…

I've heard of it and I've been told it can discolor the wood and cause problems with finishes adhering to the wood.

Oh, they are about 30 to 37 inches across depending on how you measure them. They aren't from the base. They took them from about 3 feet up. The base was almost 5 feet across. The tree was so tall that they had a hard time reaching the top with the 120 foot boom lift.
-
Here's a shot of the rounds I have as they are now You can see how much more prominent the dark spots are. You can see how big the checking got and honestly, the only way to prevent it is to kiln dry it. But the closest kiln dryer that would cater to the public was almost 2 hours away from me and he didn't know if his kiln…

Here's the rounds I had cut from the oak tree when it came down. The tree was taken down August 22nd through 24th of 2022 (Yes, it was that big) It's dark right now and I thought I had current pictures but I don't. So I'll grab a shot of them tomorrow and share what they look like now so you know what to expect. The black…

I have rounds myself that I'm trying to dry. Well, not trying, I am drying. Mine was a red oak. It smelled bad so I couldn't dry it indoors. They've been leaning on the porch since the tree was removed earlier this year. I have good sized checking in them but it seems to have stopped where it is hasn't split the rounds…
