Whatever, Whenever is flat out one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever heard. In the first line you get a distant, pained, and nostalgic sound. The guitar and drums meld so well with his vocals in furthering this atmosphere. The guitar's crescendo near the end comes in as a storm that the other instruments continue firmly playing through. The ending having them sound haggard after the storm passes is a great portrayal of the lines: I’m just fine/Most the time/I’ll get by/I’ll survive Byrhtnoth
I'm not normally a fan of math rock, but this album is just beautiful. Never failing to brighten my mood, it is possessed of a unique energy and lightness. Alexei Robyn
