Friday Bliss #207 - Happy Birthday, Silva & Selma!

Selma and Silva celebrate today their first birthday - congratulations!

They are healthy, lively, soft and sweet ❤️  They run and play, hunt flies,

love to go out in the garden and let us sleep in the morning. 

Selma posed for me a bit, but Silva was not a minute still.

The position of her ears tells that she didn’t like modeling at all.

GARDEN:

Clematis Negritjanka and Mikelite are in bloom, have been for a while. In the spring 

they woke up very late and I was afraid that they will not show up at all. 

The flowers are smaller than usual, due to the draught.

Bees are busy, even if there is autumn in the air.

HEALTH:

I've been suffering from sciatica for 2.5 weeks now. The pain radiates to the entire left leg, 

all the way to the foot. Moving is extremely painful. They said that recovering takes 

from 6 weeks till 3 months. I may have to rely on old photos in the coming weeks, 

if I can't walk and take new ones. But that’s life.

Looking Down

The topic of Makrotex this week is LOOKING DOWN.

While walking in the garden and looking down I see kittens 

and low spring flowers in blue and yellow.

Selma and Silva are very enthusiastic to go out!

Friday Bliss # 189 - Happy First of May!

April comes to its end and the spring has come even to Finland. The snow has melted away 

and I have started to work in the garden. There are tiny signs of new growth: 

crocuses, scillas and bursting buds. I got these sunny tulips from a visiting friend

and combined them with lime button chrysanthemums.

Selma and Silva got sterilized and they wore this kind of protectic wear,

which was much more comfortable than collar. The first days they were tired 

but are now their lively selves. They will celebrate their 8 month birthday on May 2.

Vappu - May Day and the eve of First of May are traditional big celebrations in Finland

with student caps, balloons, booze, tippaleipä and sima / mead, a fermented citrus drink.

But I have grown too old for extravagances and prefer take it easy and stay home!

Signs of Spring

Friday Bliss #184 - Beautiful White Muscari

I had a pot of white muscaris and they were so beautiful!

Yet photographing was challenging: either there was too much light or too little.

In addition my kitten assistants were very eager to help me in my job.

I made a test and put the pot on the window sill - it took them a couple of seconds to find it

and I had to put the pot safe in my big lantern again.

The World Happiness Report 2022 says Finland came first for the fifth continuous year. 

Looking at each country from 2018-2020, the report finds these 10 to be the happiest in the world:

That certainly is good news. And good news is also that my corona test was negative.

Nevertheless I have been sick for the whole week with this respiratory infection

with strong mucous cough, rasp throat and running nose. In order to lift my spirits 

I have entertained myself with audiobooks about Alfie the cat. Wonderful books for every catlover!

Things that Make me Happy!

Family, friends, flowers and books make me happy. Good food and treats make me happy.

Selma and Silva certainly make me happy, even if they have conquered the whole house. 

Many times a day I get heart palpitations because of their running and dangerously looking jumps. 

But they are so good at what they do!

I would not change, but the drawback is that I have had to put almost all of

my nice decorations in storage. Perhaps they get calmer growing older.

We have many book cases and high closets. These two chase each other 

and jump from one bookcase to the other. Their speed is furious!

 

But they also play nicely and quietly for a long time and love to watch the birds

through the windows.
