Broken Chip - The Wonga Pigeon

about

I never knew the Wonga pigeon existed until about 4 years ago when I first saw it in my backyard. I startled it and it flew away and landed up high in a tree with its back to me. It was a large white and grey bird that I couldn't identify because I didn't get a good view of it. I went through bird books and still had no idea. A year went by and I had not identified or seen the bird since. It started to gain a mythical status in my mind.
Eventually I saw the bird again in almost the same location. I saw it very close up this time and knew it was a pigeon. Again, it flew away and landed on the same branch it landed on last time with its back to me. It wasn't hard to find it now that I had a proper ID on it.
I've always liked pigeons and doves and to have a native pigeon living nearby is pretty cool and I guess thats why I chose it.
