in the spirit of full transparency, i think it's important to write about ai. artificial intelligence has become a major tool in today's internet, so it's important to note that no content published on this site has been authored by an ai. all content is written by me for you.
i use large-language-model-powered tools ("generative ai") for research, idea generation, and coding support - similar to how you might use a search engine, Stack Overflow, GitHub discussions, or ask a friend. instead of an overwhelming pile of information, i can ask a single question and get a single answer.
these tools include public services like ChatGPT, Claude, and my own self-hosted model running locally via Ollama on solar-powered infrastructure. that one is my main source because it belongs to me. all generated output is verified manually using trusted sources before integration into any creative or technical work. that's crucial to my process.
while i use these tools to aid my process, i never rely on ai-generated text as a substitute for my own thoughts or writing. all final content reflects my voice and judgement.
i hold serious concerns about the ethics of generative ai, including its energy demands, training data biases, copyright and privacy issues, and potential for misuse.
my decision to engage with these tools is grounded in:
my use of ai is deliberately minimal, local, and sustainable, with a strong emphasis on transparency and ethical responsibility.
