Really amazing and addicting game! There are some bugs, though. The vampire skill doesn't seem to work. And when I win a stage and click upgrade, it never brings me to the upgrade page, which break the flows quite a bit. Also, please make maxed skills feels more distinguish so that I can tell at a glance that it's already maxed and can't be clicked.

There's a bug in the browser player where, after clicking the "close" button on the snow tile development notice, the map turns completely black.

Delicious game.

Fast Thinking upgrade - potion duratation upgrade is kinda grindy, spent probably 5 forrest runs to get it for 1% benefit.

4h10m to clear the demo. Not enough diamonds to upgrade druid snipe upgrade. But from what i've seen, if the future holds more content and mechanics, then its definately a 10/10 game.

Fun little game, hope it continues to develop well for you.  Small issue--I don't think the "vampire" skill is working properly (it appears to do nothing, at least in some circumstances)

Ok, now I've done everything in this game, had all the characters each maxed out.   Some sort of respec or a node that lets you buy diamonds for 100,000 resources each, 10 for wood, 10 for stone, plenty to fill the tree would be nice.   Charge a ton so we don't even think about it before we're basically done, but my first complaint about the pick up, was totally covered by the Druid.  I love that character.  Fully upgraded, the pets still miss occasionally, it's perfect.  I have enough diamonds for 4 of the 5 I use.  I don't use the mage.  I like him, I think he's more powerful than the one I do use.  That penetrating shot is way better than the split one, but split one is more hands off, the way I want to play so I take the punishment and it's good.   It's the way it should be.

We do need some way to sell back or get more diamonds to change our chart either with or without a respec.  Players are too used to this.  Maybe prestige and start over with +5 diamonds?  I don't know how to fix this.  There's lots of ways, but one of them should be used.

I'm still debating on the prestige. I initially wanted to make the last island very difficult, let the player prestige and have a 2nd skill tree with very strong permanent upgrades. But I think a lot of people won't like it...

Ohh, a second upgrade tree is a good idea. You could even put upgraded follower unlocks in it where they have some or all of the diamond upgrades swapped out so you buy them with regular resources not diamonds.

I would like an option to turn off the Bloom effects too (or whatever it is that makes things look fuzzy), it somehow makes me feel like I have bad eye-sight (like I have dirt in the eye & need to blink) & that feels uncomfortable.

Good game otherwise.

It's a fun game that hits a good dopamine flow within a couple hours. I like that there always felt like some kind of progression happening, whether it be from the upgrade tree, or how far I could reliably get in a level.

Why are there not enough diamonds to get all the upgrades? At least make it so you can sell them. I'm not going to start the game all over just to get different upgrades.

So I'm attempting to unlock the 5th party slot but I think there's a type of stone I'm missing or something? is it possible? 

Yes, one of the upgrades lets you get 10% of something as other stuff.  This is where I got my crystal from.   2-3k per run in 2-8?   The high stone map.   2-4 at first till I could do 2-8, the bigger one.   I'm not sure on the numbers right now, I'm restarting to have diamonds for the druid.

Darn looks like I'm going to have to start as new file because I don't have enough diamonds to get that and I have the majority of the stat tree filled lol. Thank you for the insight though trying to get my whole party on the board lol

how do you unlock the druid? i'm fairly sure he's in zone 2-3, since there's an exclamation mark, but no matter what i do, i can't find him.

There is a clue to it in the guild tab, but don't break the cactus. 

I did this by only taking the healer and not breaking anything.

How do you win?

I took healer and the two that attack in the direction you're pointing, spent the whole time just attacking forward, then only destroyed the enemies at the end.

Only take the healer. Once you reach the boss, hit esc. You don't need to beat the level to unlock him.

Ok, i have 95% of the tree unlocked.  Every diamond collected.   Enough to know the one guy you get at the end does not have enough diamonds to unlock his reduced damage skill.  I have 2 diamonds left, he has 2 skills to get, 1 costs 2 diamonds, one costs 3.     I have to restart to get a third and not spend it elsewhere.
I was totally confused for a long time on the mage being me.    I was looking for a second unlock.  I was looking for the mage.     I saw the other comments, I'm not the only one.  Another problem this caused me was I did not catch on to the basic upgrades applied to every character.  I spent the first couple hours thinking the basic attacks were me, the mage was someone I could not find, so maybe it was bugged?  I went to the comments to find out I'm a retard on not figuring out the mage was me.
I also spent most the game looking for an upgrade that would auto pick up stuff.  Or a companion who does it.  That is trading fire power for convenience like the healer or the resource gathering twit who's gun seems to mostly be there for the get 15 hp per hit cause you get a bunch of them and now he's a good healer too.  He has a gun that now that I have the whole tree practically done, he can kill stuff, but he was seriously behind for a lot of it and that was ok.
Maybe on the mage put the mage (you)  in the chart some place?  Call general damage universal damage to clue us in it affects stuff?   I get that it should be obvious, it changes the party numbers on the top right, but I'm usually buying it in the middle and I have a big wide screen and bad eyesight.  If I could see the numbers, they would be blury and hard for me to read, it's why I use a large monitor.  I hate it, I can't see the corners when I'm looking at the center, but in a reasonable one, I can't read so....   The UI scale here is amazing.  You managed to make everything huge and not in the way.   I love everything about it except the lack of telling me I was the mage.  That was a dumb thing for me to not catch on to.

I think this needs a character whos job it is to pick stuff up so we can go even more hands off idle.  The carpenter is a wonderful guy, but more bounces and more splitting on his stuff in a full release?  Maybe get someone who does aim at stuff in the full release and not random, but his bounces seem awfully targeted.  If you do add a item pick up guy, you will get harassed for an auto restart button too so those of us who like to go afk and let it grind can be happy.  A auto restart last map on death/completion.    And make sure auto pick up guy does not just auto pick up everything.   Maxed out, I'd say shoot for 90%   Let chests spam and super nodes overwhelm the pick up guy.  Get the farthest left object every x seconds.  x can be .01 seconds and get 100 per second.  (not this low, unless I'm way off in how many objects are on screen, but this is an example.  Made sure x lets some things leak, but gets most.  You should always reward active play.)
I played on the browser twice.  the first time, I cleared 2-4 and then the second time, I found out the browser didn't keep my game, so I started over and knowing I'm the mage this time helped so much.  It was this second time that I caught on that general increases applied to everyone, so maybe I'm too dumb to listen to.
Looking at this, I feel stupid admitting some of this, but f it.  I'm 54, I don't care any more.   That's the problems I had with it.  I love this game, it's great.

There's a character called Druid that helps gather items automatically but he is near the end. I was planning of having some sort of "prestige" system further in the game but I'm still debating it. There would be an auto-restart at that point if I do it.

Does the druid auto gather stuff?   I know he boosts the amount you pick up, but I thought it was a modifier to what I picked up.   The other poster I was hinting at also was wondering about an auto looter.     Something that would actually pick up the stuff on the ground after it's shot up.   From what I understand it's only what's in the box around the crosshair.  The mouse cursor has the hit box of my loot vacuum.   We were looking for something other than that to pick up drops.

The Hermit boost the pick up, but the Druid has pets that pick up loot. But right now, you find him near the end of the current game content.

I did not see that I missed the Druid, this is perfect.   I love the Druid, but now I have to start over again and get the gems to unlock the druid.

I love this game, I just wish it was a bit more obvious.    I did figure out how to get the druid pretty fast once I realized I was missing it.  That clue in the guild tab was enough for my dumb butt to figure it out.

Losing all of the saved data from the previous version is painful.

Please consider looking carefully at building save-game versioning and compatibility. There are standard solutions for this. Typically, you’d store a version number in the saved game, and when loading, migrate the save data forward using migrations defined for each version. Anything that isn’t stored at all starts out initialized to the default (e.g. new upgrades start out unpurchased), while anything that has changed gets migrated to account for that.

Wow this game really is addicting, i love all the upgrade channels that are available.  I was sad once i reached the end of the demo.  Really solid gameplay loop already. Looking forward to the full version!

I love it! This game is something! I sat 4 hours straight playing it. Unfortunately, I did it in browser and after reloading the page my whole progress was gone D:
People talking about where and how to get the next character is a really nice feature. Gameplay is really smooth and progress is really feelable. D@mn, this is good! (add the explosions, please 😁)

Interesting game , I've sat here for about 40 mins playing it.

The game becomes unplayable on browser due to the screen not being able to be moved around at all to view the whole upgrade tree..it wont even scroll in or out.   You need to do a regular windows download or Steam download..once again.  There are a few mechanics issues that other developers, making games like this, usually avoid by doing a few things.  For one,  the human brain doesnt work fast enough once you have another party member in and the resources go all over the screen.  Coins, wood, attacks flying...all that, made me have to shut the game down because I have epilepsy, and wanted to avoid a seizure.  I am begging you to show that you respect disabilities and make all auto an option.  Auto aim, auto attack, and auto collect items. Just so people like me can love this game even more.  You have a huge talent. 

 Even for normal brains....it's just is not possible to focus.  You cant collect everything or even a few things on the screen after you beat the first boss and get a new hero.  I have upgraded the magnet etc and still not better.  What you needed to do was to do what is standard in this genre.  Auto aim and auto attack for all heroes...either make it an option or static in the game....and all the resources need to be put in inventory right away.  If there is auto attack and auto aim for all characters....as an option on the skill tree....then its not showing up soon enough.....for how chaotic this game is. Usually see all the auto aim and auto attack or auto gather items type stuff.....early in the skill trees of other games in this genre.   You have to remember that you as the dev know how to play this game. So when a player loves this genre, and is familiar with how this type of game works....its a huge let down to discover the developer has chosen to ignore some of the most basic and standard elements in an incremental game, that are loved by players. This random shooting all over the screen, cant be happening like a tower defense.....due to how much there is to do manually.   You cant combine so much so fast you know.  Please allow us to put it all on auto attack and auto aim, as well as auto collect  if we choose.  I was so stressed I felt like I was gonna cry lol. I do have to say...that this is one of the best games I have ever played...and I had to stop playing after I got the carpenter and all the random stuff started happening that made no sense.   But yea, many people with brain disorders like mine, would appreciate the options menu changes I mentioned, regarding auto attack, auto aim and auto collect all resources.  I hope this doesnt come out sounding rude or upsets you.  I get a lot of really emotional developers who act like babies with posts like mine.  But if you could hear my voice tone....I promise you it would come across as totally bubbly and loving.  Thats just how I am.  I never meet a stranger basically, I am the first one to be a friend, and jump head first into helping.  So maybe we can collaborate together huh? :D

SIDE NOTE ISSUE:

Also there is a huge problem with how you keep giving us  links or whatever for the updates.  LOL I was making my dog hide from me, my screams of NOOO, were so loud.  The link above and others, they dont work Sir Dev.   I even shut down all my firewalls and blockers..made my pc a hackers dream...wide open to all.  It  allowed everything with the unzip and let me get to setup.  But then it gave me the hour glass like a game does before it sets  up or launches, and  did nothing when I clicked the setup.exe. It should have popped up right away.  You need to just let us download it from here please like others do.  Browser is an issue also.  If you right click to move the screen around for the skills, it brings up the browser menu...on any browser I played on btw.  Im almost in tears from frustration Mr. Developer.  You dont wanna make a girl cry do you? Please upload a download for windows the normal way or put a download on Steam.

In the next update, the skill tree will be able to move with WASD.

As for the "auto" options, I'll think about it but I'm not sure how I can properly do it for now, since I don't know if the user wants to collect wood or kill enemies.

In the next update, the carpenter will always shoot at something. There's also the Druid in the desert that help gather items automatically.

Something that worked for me to scroll the upgrade screen in my browser is to open the pop-up volume controls on the task bar and then right-click on the game window while they're open. It lets me move the screen once while I hold the right mouse button but needs to be repeated to be able to move it again.

Not sure why that works or if it's the case for everyone, but it could be a workaround for the time being.

HOW CAN YOU WHEN THE BROWSER MENU POPS UP WHAT BROWSER ARE YOU USING AND HAVE YOU DOWNLOADED A BROWSER THAT ALLOWS YOU TO DISABLE THAT RIGHT CLICK MENU POP UP.  YOU MUST HAVE ONE THAT IS NOT COMMONLY USED.  CHROME, EDGE, FIREFOX, ETC ALL THE ONES THAT ARE SAFE AND POPULAR...NOT DARK WEB APPROVED...MAKE IT VERY HARD TO REMOVE THAT RIGHT CLICK BROWSER MENU POP UP.  SO TELL ME WHAT SKILLS YOU HAVE TO DISABLE THE RIGHT CLICK.

I thought those things in the city were pillars, not cages lol

I have an update for bugs and small fixes. Since there's a bigger volume of players than I expected, I'm afraid of to many save game being lost (it happens on itch). I'll do the update on sunday night.

There's a tiny icon in the bottom right on the title screen to save your data on your pc.

After the update, for this month, I'll work on new upgrade and balancing the game to make it less grindy.

So Im confused. Ive completed up to 1-6 but still don't see how/where to unlock the Mage. Help please! Great demo, btw!

Maybe we aren't talking about the same thing but the mage is just the main character.

the Mage has a separate upgrade tree from the Hero. Also he has a different graphic in the upgrades. Also I've never found him

A lot of potential, I really like the demo, for sure a bit too grindy, some stats to fine tune, but very good!

very long demo, very satisfying upgrades and gameplay this is one of the better incremental games I've played

although the upgrade tree could reallyyyy use an upgrade or something which nerfs these stone-barriers you find throughout desert levels, I also think it'd be nice if you could respec diamond-upgrades 

desert 1-7 and 1-8 have an absolutely absurd amount of these stone barriers, (it might be a skill issue on my part but) I hit a big timewall around that part kept dying and had to grind basicallyall  available upgrades just to beat em....... and then I find out 1-9 has a hero which completely blocks all projectiles 

overall it's a W plays incremental game i'm excited to see how this evolves 💪💪

I think it's because of the enemies, because the rat-genies will just bombard you without you being able to attack back because of the rocks and stone walls making so much cover

minor bug i found is if you kill the boss at the same time as taking a fatal blow, you will fail the map but still get a diamond. letting you potentially farm diamonds. Should probably tie the diamond reward to map clear rather than boss death, or make it so you pass even if you die as long as boss is killed.

I managed to find a bug and softlock on desert level 1-9.

I tried using only the healer, because there’s something hidden there and I wondered if it was “don’t destroy something” again like desert 1-3.

When I did, the rats never ran up, and the tank-on-rails shot horizontally rather than towards me, and at the end of the level the boss never showed up. And Esc didn’t do anything.

(What is the secret on that level?)

There's nothing special in that level. The game pretty much stops there for now.

I was thinking of the boss level. There's a "prison" that's different than the others and the new character is stuck in it.

There was probably a error that happen and esc didn't work. I'm working on a bunch of fixes from all the feedback.

I think I softlocked the desert 1-3 level. At the end, I was recovering health faster than the boss was depleting it, but since I was only using the healer and no other units, I was stuck.

Yeah, the only option is to press ESC... I plan on making the boss stronger every x seconds to prevent this and to prevent people killing the boss very slowly.

Fun game, and not too short for a demo either. Too many games on this site are just short demos that never become anything or bafflingly becomes Steam exclusives.

Either way, looking forward to the full release. A little bug i notice while playing that i haven't seen anyone else comment on is that whoever is in the fourth slot doesn't trigger. Their passives work but they don't "shoot". Thought my druid was busted for a long while until i realized it was just whoever was in that bottom position wasn't triggering their active ability.

hm, you probably should have named the second zone level soemthingb like 2-1.and not 1-1, the same as the levels in the previous zones.
also not sure if I broke soemthing I didnt exactly play levels in orders since you didnt place them in order either.
but from second zone, the dessert , I only havent beaten 1-8 and 1-7 yet, got all others there.
including 1-3 and 1-9 where the map shows an exclamation mark, so something should happen there (jsut like the area where you got the healer girl that level has a red ! in it too).but yeah, i replayed those 2 desert levels many times, nothign happened story wise or unlocking that famous cactus farmer the guild is ranting about.it shows the compeltion sign for those levels but no red !and nothing happened eithe,r like no story dialog at the end of the elvel or anything.
not sure if something is broken there.
also it is HELL that you can not beat lots of levels there not cause you lack firepower and stuff, no it's cause you cant shoot through the stone pillars, while literally anything else can.
especially 1-2 railroad cannons mini gunning you down while you literally cant hit them cause the damn ston pillars are in the way.
you literally have 1500 hp shredded to nothign by those cannons in 3 seconds, while you can aim and shott their direction but ston pillars block the shots.that sucks hard. cause no upgrade will help you there.
gott pray for good rng I guess so pillar wont land in yourline of sight I guess :-/

Also jsut for my curiosity:
in the original 1-3, like the third elvel of the game where youg et the healer.
when you havent her yet, in tat level you can totally see her surrounded by a goblin squad at the top of the screen and shoot that squad.
back then I only got in 2-3 shots before it scrolled off screen, which idnd t change anything. it only flashed with eahc hit, as if it took damage.

but beat the level and got the healer anyways. so jsut wodnering, would it be possible to actually kill that squad there in that level or was that sjtu there for visuals?

cause like certain games (band of heroes and the likes) I thought you had to kill that goblin squad within the level to free her, so she joins your party.
 but then I jsut finished the level normally and got ehr by default.

More than likely you killed them off screen and didn't notice or were expecting some kind of animation/cutscene. There's no fanfare, you just kill the enemies around her and finish the level.

In the cactus level, you have to proceed without hitting a single cactus. The people in the guild tell you this. I did it by only using the healer after progressing past it a free levels. You can die at the boss to end the level and it'll work, if that works. esc is a little finicky.

The other ! is the knight and it'll be a pillar with red particles floating up from it. Takes a few shots. Again, told to you by the people in the guild.

I was in the guild, all they say is theres a knight in the city prison.

I didnt see no red pilalrs or stuff, but after getting the cactus guy, I tried dessert 1-9 witohut anyhting special there and had the knight dialogue this time.no clue what had changed, do you need to find guys in the right order?

There isn't supposed to be an order. The knight quest isn't well made for now, it's supposed to be a prison with a slight difference from the others. There's no animation or anything yet.

For 2-3, you have to get to the end without destroying a cactus (it's ok to die after).

I'll be adding a lot more upgrades, the ending is very grindy at the moment for the lack of upgrades.

Took a while to notice that coin upgrade costs coins instead of wood.
In fact, took a while to understand how to spend coins hahaha. I am a bit slow XD

found it a bit slow at the beginning. Unlocked area 2 but found out area 1 was paying more in therms of wood. but after 10 times doing the same level and 4-5 upgrades later nothing is added to the game. Am I doing something wrong?

yeah, the 2 levels that literally show a forest on the map are the best place to grind wood hard.

similarly there are 2 stone levels in the dessert that can be farmed for stone.
even though the dessert sucks since indestructable pillars and stuff appear there making some levels near impossible
