Lately raising a 3 year old, a 5 year old and a 7 year old feels like being a referee for a sport you don’t even like and where you can’t even enforce the rules because NOBODY is listening to you!! 😅 I swear they get louder at the same time as a tactic to melt my brain. But I try to remember what I love most about this stage (after the echo chamber quiets down of course and they can finally hear me asking to put on their shoes for the tenth time eeesh!). Right now I am the coolest person they know. The kind that takes them to the mall to buy candy and when we stumble upon a train that drives around the second floor, says yes to riding it. The kind that waves unabashedly at the other mall goers looking on and g

I love documenting first birthdays because it's a celebration for the whole family. In Korean tradition, first birthdays are also celebrated with the ritual of a doljabi, a fortune telling ceremony where the child chooses an item that predicts what type of person they’ll be when they grow up. Whether or not it comes into fruition, the ritual is fun more than anything and such a lovely celebration. This past summer I photographed a Doljanchi in Westchester. How does scheduling photography sessions go? Golden hour photography, Weekdays, weekends or evenings? Some photographers have set times they like to photograph at – whether that be golden hour only, sunrise or only on weekdays. Make sure your schedules and photo styles are compatible.
