Gift (Cadeau) - Man Ray - 1921 - Dadaism/Surrealism - Flat Iron with Brass Tacks: According to Man Ray this object was made in a spurt of inspiration, the day of the exhibition. He has used an everyday old fashioned iron, attached 14 tacks to its surface. It is now a ready made assisted object. A normal object has been transformed into something threatening, therefore it can relate to the violence of war going on at the time, showing how something normal e.g. humans can turn violent during war.
