This is a wonderfully magic winter lesson I found on the Painted Paper website. She gives all the steps and lots of great visuals to help students. I altered my lesson by using white coloured pencils with touches of white tempera at the end. I taught this to a class of Grade 4 - 6 students. Loved how they turned out and so many skills taught!

This is a fun winter art project for kids. The older kids' class used prismacolor pencils as kinds of a wax resist for the knit texture (made with an “x” pattern) but the younger class just went over their mittens with posca paint markers instead- which was faster. Posca was also used for the snow.
