Sailor David Blair forgot to leave a key as the Titanic set off on its maiden voyage. His shipmates were unable to open a locker containing the binoculars that were to look out.Lookout Fred Fleet, who survived the disaster later told an official inquiry that if they had binoculars they would have seen the iceberg sooner,"Enough to get out of the way." 95 years later, the key is up for auction along with a postcard from Mr Blair telling of his disappointment at not being on the maiden voyage.
