Beat Box and Talk Box! The title track, For The Ages, was written in memory of my nephew, Josh and is based on a beat box and humming pattern that his brother, my oldest nephew, Randall Schlappich had come up with. I wrote words and melody and demoed it on Garageband with the beatbox. We took it to Bruce's studio and started to build the song with a goal of making it big and over the top. The band knocked it out of the park from Danny drums mirroring the beat box, to Bruce perfect placement of the vibraphone to Johnny's idea to add mellotron and Talk Box guitar. My brother Dave, and youngest nephew, Ryan also came in and added hand claps. It felt good to have us all work on it together to remember Josh. (Missed you, Tim) Easily my favorite Frog Holler song ever from creation to completion.
lyrics
they all think we're done
wanna to make a run for the ages?
ever since when you left
(been) slightly out of step with the cadence
focus on the facts
able to adapt to the changes
here we go again
not only a win but a statement
for the ages 3x
tonight is gonna be
perfectly in time
point me to the side where the stage is
and swallow foolish pride
we've been on a ride
we've been on a ride for the ages 2x
it got as low as it could get
easy to fathom how the depths could claim us
the pressure was intense
the struggle to the top, famous
you're always in my dreams
holding memories is dangerous
i'm ready to believe
sing a melody and make it
for the ages 3x
sing a melody for the ages
for the ages 3x
tonight is gonna be for the ages x
only love can save us
do you feel courageous? 2x
for the ages 1x
tonight is gonna be for the ages
