Play Time

Gus and I played in the yard while Wayne was working in his shop today.

It started with him picking up a scrap of wood from the shop floor.
He walked around in circles until he got my attention.
Then, the chase was on.....

"You can't see me!!"

Then, we worked in the flower beds for a bit.  I was digging up some dead plants and I thought (mistakenly) that it was cute that he was helping me dig.  Then I caught him doing this....

When I hollered "NO! Don't dig there!", this is the face that looked up at me....

Gotta love it!

Bubba Teeth

Gus decided we weren't paying enough attention to him the other day.  He hunted around the house until he found something that didn't belong to him, just to bait us into a chase.  I have no idea where he found it, but he came into my room looking like he had "Bubba Teeth"!

Turns out it was a silk sunflower! But the way he had it sticking out of his mouth was hilarious!  We laughed and chased him all over the house with the camera.

He got what he wanted!

Best Friends

Our neighbors have a puppy with lots of energy.  Her name is Penny and she is about 6 - 8 months old.  The saying goes...a good dog is a tired dog, so Gus gets a phone call several evenings a week to go play with Penny.  He enjoys his play dates so much that when we say Penny's name, he runs to get his leash.  We don't really need the leash because when he gets outside, he runs straight to her front door.

I stood on a chair in our kitchen to take these photos with my telephoto lens.  Penny has gotten so used to watching our kitchen window in hopes of seeing Gus that she spotted me right away.

They were the same size when they started playing together a few months ago!

Penny loves to play with Gus' ears.  Yuck.  Looks like someone needs a bath.

Gus' 1st Birthday

This weekend, we celebrated Gus' 1st birthday.  He got an Outward Hound tree trunk filled with 6 squirrels.  Two are already MIA.......

Gus loves this!  Actually, he got a smaller version for Christmas but one by one chewed the squirrels beyond repair.  He loved it so much, we got this larger version.

He also got a box of dog cookies.  There was one large iced cookie in the center of the box that had "Happy Birthday" written on top.......

Gus was a little too excited to want to pose for photos!

He ran around with the cookie in his mouth looking for a good place to bury it .....

He carried it in his mouth until the letters started melting off....

and when he couldn't find a hiding place good enough he ate the whole thing!!  Yum!

All in all I think he's had a pretty good day!
