Before submitting a new icon request, please confirm the following:

What would you use this icon for?

Monitoring & changing the state of a dehumidifier in Home Assistant or other such applications.

Give us an example of what this icon might look like.

There probably needs to be three icons in the set. One dehumidifier-on, one with dehumidifer-off and one with an exclamation mark as dehumidifer-alert.

Here's my Van Gogh impression of the above:

de-humidifier-states

Do any of the water-* icons fit your use case? e.g.:

My concerns are:

  • the meaning of this particular stroked-off water drop would clash with the meaning of all other *-off icons, by representing a device or a thing rather than the absence of something
  • adding many elements like a border, circles and/or light bulbs only add confusion and make the icon unreadable at small sizes. I can't see any of those elements fit well within the constraints of MD icons
  • let's say we simplify and just draw a box around the stroked-off water drop, then semantically the -off variant would have to stroke the entire thing and I don't see that working out well

So the goal becomes to find another intuitive depiction of a dehumidifier, which doesn't involve a stroked-off water drop. This one from the Noun project looks like a possible starting point, maybe with a single wave shape or two at most. What do you think?

@Simran-B I see your points and will have to think about this some more. The icon that looks promising is air-humidifier. I will see what I can do with those two icons. Perhaps a minor modification can make it work. Thank you for your time.

This has been thoroughly discussed in the past and, unfortunately, no proposed solutions have been able to better convey the act of dehumidifying better than air-humidifer-off without adding all sorts of extra, confusing bloat to the base icon.

air-humidifier-off

We recommend using that icon. If someone has a new idea, please share, but for now we're going to close this as a duplicate.
