I am currently emphasising Iceland-specific open source solutions in the PHP/WordPress and Ruby spaces as well as solutions related to scalability and best-practices in those spaces.

The bulk of my work for the past year or two has been on Connector for DK, which I forked recently after working on it as a part of my web development and hosting consulting business. This is a WordPress plugin for WooCommerce that syncs products and creates invoices via the legacy DK accounting suite.

As Connector for DK is free software and the work is no longer financed by a single large contributor, I have revitalised my Github Sponsors profile in order to justify continued work.

Interestingly, my most popular repository on Github has to be an Icelandic contract template for software developers. I have received a lot of positive feedback for that one and it has proven useful to a lot of people in the freelance development and design community.

Here are some other areas I am focused on in terms of open source software contributions:

  • Contributions towards the WordPress community that don't depend on specific vendors or requires approval from the WP leadership
  • DockPress, a template for running WordPress in Docker and Kubernetes environments.
  • WP-Tests-Strapon, a test runner for WordPress plugins and themes
  • Iceland specific WordPress adaptations such as Connector for DK
  • Iceland specific Ruby gems (namely a the Kennitala and Postal code gems)
