Thai Chicken Pizza is a delightful mash-up of cultures: crisp pizza crust, topped with pad thai sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, cooked chicken, shredded carrots, green onions, and fresh cilantro. Skip the fancy pizza kitchen restaurant and make your own at home — for less!

Not sure what to serve with pizza? This tasty Thai Chicken Pizza deserves some Summer Rolls as a starter and an Asian Cabbage Salad on the side.

    • Thai Chicken Pizza Recipe

Chances are you’ve been to a pizzeria that made fancy pies or even grabbed a frozen California Pizza Kitchen boxed pizza at the grocery store. Bring that restaurant flavor home for less when you make Thai Chicken Pizza.

Learning to make my homemade pizza was a big game changer for us when we were paying off debt and getting our financial house in order. We loved the tradition of Friday night pizza, but simply could not afford the high prices of pizzeria pies.

Turns out you can do just as good at home!

    Why Make This

You can eat well. Our main goal at Good Cheap Eats is to help you eat well. You work hard and you deserve to enjoy good things in this life, especially Thai Chicken Pizza. This recipe is packed with flavor!

You can save money. Making your own will be cheaper. And it will taste just as good, even better.

It’s easy! This Thai Chicken Pizza couldn’t be easier to throw together. Start with a homemade pizza dough, and this pizza is ready in about 20 minutes! Cheesy, and bursting with Thai flavors – make something differently delicious tonight.

    Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need to make Thai Chicken Pizza:

ingredients for Thai chicken pizza laid out on counter.

pizza dough – You can use a store bought pizza crust or make pizza dough yourself. I’ve linked our favorite pizza dough recipes below.

pad thai sauce – To make it easy, we use prepared pad thai sauce, available in the Asian foods aisle of the grocery store. If you prefer, you can use hoisin sauce, peanut sauce, or your favorite Asian chili sauce.

mozzarella cheese – Mozz is traditional for pizza, of course, but I’ve found that Monterey Jack works well in combination with mozzarella. Use what you have to save money! Remember you can freeze cheese if you have extra you won’t use up right away.

cooked chicken – This is where it comes in handy to have frozen chicken in the freezer or to pick up a rotisserie chicken. Check out all the ways you can cook chicken for recipes.

fresh veggies – Fresh vegetables really bring flavor and texture to this Thai Chicken Pizza. I use shredded carrots, chopped green onion, and chopped fresh cilantro. You can also add julienned red bell pepper if you like.

optional toppings – For more heat, add red pepper flakes. For a very Thai touch, added chopped peanuts.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

Here’s how to make this Thai Chicken Pizza recipe:

    sauce spread on pizza crust.
chicken and vegetables sprinkled on pad Thai sauce.
    cheese sprinkled over the top.
baked pizza with fresh cilantro sprinkled over top.
    • Preheat the oven to 475 degrees. Spray a 12-inch pizza pan or pizza screen with nonstick cooking spray. Fit the pizza dough into the pan, stretching to fit.
    • Spread the Pad Thai sauce across the dough to cover. Sprinkle half the cheese over the pizza. Distribute the chicken, carrot, and green onions across the pizza. Top with the rest of the cheese.
    • Bake the pizza for 8 to 9 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is crisp. Remove to a cutting surface to slice. Top with the cilantro and serve immediately.

    FAQs

Do you need to use a pizza stone to make homemade pizza?

You don’t need a pizza stone. You can use a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or cornmeal for a kitchen basic item. I have found pizza screens to be the best for getting a really crisp crust.

What temp should you bake homemade pizza?

Homemade pizza is best baked at high temperatures. I prefer to bake it at 475 degrees F.

Can you use parchment paper for homemade pizza?

You can use parchment paper to line a baking sheet. An alternative is to grease the baking sheet and sprinkle it with cornmeal.

      Yum. I’ll try this!

Normally my family only eats traditional pizzas–pepperoni, or cheeseburger, or cheese.

The most unique pizzas I’ve made are Mac ‘n’ Cheese (just leftover creamy MnC with lots of extra cheese on a pizza crust.

Runza Pizza (a combo of hamburger, finely shredded cabbage, diced onion, salt and pepper all cooked together then spread on a pizza crust and covered with cheese).

I’ve used leftover meatloaf diced up and put on the pizza. Also, finely diced hot dogs under the cheese.

One day I will attempt a Bulgogi pizza, and a Sesame Chicken pizza. I’m just trying to figure out a good sauce recipe since tomato sauce won’t work.

Cilantro must be a weekly staple at your house. Do you have a special way to preserve the herb? I’m buying the thai sauce this week to try this.

I like to make the chicken enchildada recipe from crisco.com and freeze 2-3 pans when chicken goes on sale. I make my own broth from boiled chicken to make the enchilada sauce.

This base would be good on pizza too-chicken enchilda pizza using the enchilada sauce. We’ll have to tweak that sometime and see how it tastes, but we love the fresh cilantro taste. Thanks for thai pizza recipe.

Yes, it is. And yes, I do. I explain how I store cilantro: Saving Cilantro.

I will have to try the enchilada pizza. Hubs would love that! Thanks for the idea!

Tried this last night but cooked it with the cilantro already on it (I had missed that part of the directions! Whoops!)
      It came out awesome!
      Thanks!
      Blessings on the journey~

This looks so yummy! I love doing pizzas with different toppings rather than the “normal” toppings.

I love that it uses frugal pantry staples because that means I usually have pretty much everything on hand except the Pad Thai sauce. So did you make this up or find inspiration from somewhere?
