The meadhall in Grendel. "The inside walls would be beautifully painted and hung with tapestries, every cross timber or falcon's perch was carved and gergawed with toads, snakes, dragon shapes, etc."(Gardner 31) The meadhall is a symbol of the Danes's perseverance in the midst of a chaotic world as they continue to rebuild it when Grendel destroys it.
