Gel Printing With Cornflower
Use cornflour to create weathered textures on the gel plate. Gelli Arts® artist Birgit Koopsen starts with an already printed sheet. Roll out acrylic paint colours. Sprinkle the cornflour on top. The powder will work as a mask. Place the print on top and rub firmly. Lift the print and let it dry before you carefully remove the loose cornflower. Repeat the process with the leftovers on the plate. #gelliarts #gelplate #printingplate #monoprinting #printmaking #gelprinting #gelliplate #artteacher
Crayon Resist Gel Printing
Create beautiful distressed textures on the gel plate using stencils and wax crayons. Gelli Arts® artist Birgit Koopsen loves this technique because of the lovely distressed textures it makes and you can combine as many stencils together as you like. Birgit is using Gelli Arts® stencils. You can find them in our shop at www.GelliArts.com. Letting the first layer dry before adding the next/pick-up layer is crucial. Birgit used wax crayons but any wax or oil-based crayons will work. #gelliarts #gelplate #printingplate #monoprinting #printmaking #gelprinting #gelliplate #artteacher
Printing With Repurposed Materials: Paper Tube + Carrot Net
How to use paper tubes to create ongoing patterns and textures. Gelli Arts® artist Birgit Koopsen glues carrot net to a paper tube instead of trying to flatten a larger piece on the plate. Let the first layer of acrylic paint dry before adding the pick-up layer. Birgit uses the Gelli Arts Mini Placement Tool to line up the paper (available from gelliarts.com or your local craft/art supply store). #gelliarts #gelplate #printingplate #monoprinting #printmaking #gelprinting #gelliplate
