REACTIONS It is important to clean your hands, the jewelry, and your piercing when putting in a new earring or nose ring. Not all jewelry reactions are caused by metal allergies. Bacteria from the hands can cause infections. Or crusties left behind from the previous piece can get lodged in the piercing when putting in the new piece and cause irritation if not cleaned properly beforehand. Too thick of a wire gauge or too small of a hoop size can also cause irritation to the piercing and cause a reaction. If the jewelry causes a reaction the best steps to take are to remove the jewelry piece. Clean your piercing, and replace with what you were wearing previously. Let the reaction subside and then try again making sure to clean everything thoroughly first. If everything was well cleaned and a reaction still occurs then a metal allergy may be the culprit and please contact me for assistance with a return or exchange.
