Butterfly Stroke Breakdown
Entry: Start your stroke with your arms in front of your shoulders. Keep your elbows high and a bit bent, with your palms facing out at a 45° angle. Grip: Extend your arms forward, then outwards to about 70-80°. This is hard to mimic outside the water because water provides resistance we don’t feel on land. Keep your elbows high and your wrists slightly bent. Pull: Change Direction: Move your arms inward as they go back and down. Turn your hands and bend your elbows, bringing your hands inward and up. Push: Push your arms back, almost parallel under your body, then separate them outward and upward. Make sure your palms face backward to push the water for better propulsion.
