I think the color of moss balls are getting lighter I have these two little ones from moss ball pets that seemed to be doing ok for 2 months. They were getting fuzzy & oxygenating in the sun. Then I wanted to try to put them in water that I refrigerated for 15 minutes & then they seemed to change, they didnāt oxygenate in the sun. A week later, I put them in the fridge & they seemed lighter in color after & they lost the fuzz & became more like felt balls again. When squeezing them a little, one felt softer than the other. I then read that they donāt like drastic temperature changes & maybe thatās what happened. I know it doesnāt look that much lighter in the photo but in person I noticed a difference. Did I do something wrong? How can I get them healthy again? Should I add aquarium salt? #Marimo

Spa Day! š šāāļø š«§ šš¾āāļø š š§āāļø I have heard marimo moss balls like to have a spa day in the refrigerator occasionally, so here we are! Although, Iām not sure we need the refrigerator for this treatment because KÅhÄ lives in my kitchen window sill, which is made of stone, and unfortunately for the other plants, there is a cold draft that comes in around the sill. At first I was worried about my moss ball and its water getting too cold, but now I think he likes it! A marimo moss ball is extremely difficult to kill. Itās basically a pet rock. All you have to do is give it fresh water once a week and keep it far away from direct sunlight.
Itās such an easy plant to look after. As long as you donāt put it in direct sunlight and keep it in cold water then you are all good.

Great beginner āplantā. Pretty nice and requires little maintenance compared to others. Great to teach kids responsibility as a āpetā also Iāve seen people put little hats on them and decorate their containers ā„ļøā„ļøā„ļø
doesnāt really do much but helps aerate water. i have one in my fish tank (non toxic) and some in my water propagations. they themselves are so easy to propagate, you just pull them apart. just donāt have it in direct sunlight :)
They are super easy plants; all they need is very cold water, a glass container of some sort, no direct sunlight (or else they start to brown and smell bad) and a stir every once in a while (to mimic they being rolled by the water and waves). They are also very cute! They need like little to no attention. š
