Her voice, the vulnerability within, and a glorious sound, not overproduced but natural. 'Tender Heart' gets me - resonates in a way that is sad and glorious simultaneously. Discordant guitars behind a clean acoustic and voice ballad. Love her voice, her lyrics. Great album.

Endlessly rewarding to listen to, Berman was always a little jaded under the witticisms under the umbrella of his work frontmanning Silver Jews and it ends up taking the forefront here rather than adding some personal flavor to his amazing sense of humor. This switch in the major/minor ingredient really makes for a special album, with a touch of snark here and there that makes it clear that as much as he was going through, there was always a perfect comeback or a smart remark he had in mind.
