From fjords to castles, explore Denmark’s stunning nature and picturesque palaces

Outside its capital, Denmark boasts an array of historical sites and beauty spots. Admire sweeping views of the Baltic Sea from the limestone and chalk cliffs of Møns Klint. Meander through the pretty streets of Aarhus’s old town, on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula, and visit Frederiksborg Castle, the biggest palace in the whole of Scandinavia, and its impressive French formal gardens planted on three islets dotting the lake. Other unmissable destinations include Dyrehaven, literally “deer park”, the old hunting ground of Denmark’s kings; Råbjerg Mile, the tallest migrating dune in Europe; and the amazing beaches on the Danish west coast, looking out to the North Sea.
