Graduated in Indian classical music and disciple of the illustrious Sri Rabin Ghosh (same guru as Ravi Shankar), Guy Bernier also took advanced lessons from Ustad Ali Akbar Khan and Ustad Shahid Parvez. In 1998 he obtained the title of Badya Shree from the Bangiya Sangeet Kala Kendra, Calcutta.
