about

ECHOES OF TEARS PAST, Vol. I

A sonic journey through the 1960s to 1980s, when huayno still resonated with the weight of Andean collective memory. These recordings capture not just melodies, but laments, restrained joys, and the deep melancholy of a people who turned sorrow and longing into sound.

From the valleys of Ayacucho to the mountains of Apurímac, Spanish-introduced instruments were embraced with a unique sensitivity. The guitar doesn’t just accompany—it weeps. The mandolin doesn’t just resonate—it trembles. The voice doesn’t just sing—it breaks. This is not music that can be contained in sheet notation; it is the echo of centuries of history, passed down from string to string, from generation to generation.

This first volume is a sonic letter to the past, a testament to the emotional depth of huayno and its resilience against oblivion.
