Brighton-based Higher Love Recordings have licensed the track, 'Bibbles', from local lads Andres y Xavi, and handed it over to Jezbell for three radical reworks. The original was a chunky, mid-tempo chugger, where machines mimicked tropical timbres, cicadas sang, circuitry chirruped, and someone went crazy with a cowbell.
On their 'Pots & Pans' mix, Jezebell reimagine the tune as something much more boisterous, with building blocks and beats that are semi-industrial. Gears whizzing and clicking, sections spinning backwards, forging an abstract funk that struts its stuff somewhere between J. Saul Kane's Depth Charge and Weatherall & Tenniswood's 2 Lone Swordsmen. The crickets get swapped for something stranger, more alien, and the vibe's that of funky 'Balearic' alternatives, such as Andrew's re-do of Meat Beat Manifesto's 'Psyche Out'.
The 'Bubble & Squeak' mix is bass-led and basically beatless for its first few minutes, blasting dancers with laser-like synths, before launching into a smoother, sleeker, sleazy sonic narcotic. Sexy and suggestive, with its provocative pulse pounding, it has the same slo-mo electro-erotica feel as Spooky and Billie Ray Martin's classic cover of Throbbing Gristle's pervy Persuasion.
The 'Baubles & Beads' mix also seems to reference the roster of William Orbit's Guerilla Records, in this case the collaged, fascinating, rhythms of Coil / Psychic TV collaborator, John 'Sugar J / Mekon' Gosling. Behind some fine funky organ, the OG's vocal refrain, of 'Find another time and space' is shredded, and subliminal, while slamming freestyle snares salute Arthur Baker for a bit of planet-rocking breaker's revenge.'

This lot are running punked-up, grubby, streetwise electronic music at the moment. Their level of quality control is insane. Every original track and every remix is a winner. Tim Burdsey
will never forget Psychemagick, at the height ion their powers, slamming out Everywhere at Lowlife, Corsica Studios. One of the best DJ sets I've ever seen. Thanks so much for making these available digitally... naturally I have em all on vinyl, but its so nice to have these as big old WAV files for my digital sets. thequietfire
A tribute to the late Florian Schneider, this cover of “Neon Lights” nails both the spirit and sound of the original. Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 4, 2020
