about

The Doctor barges into an empty clinic, where Jupiter is waiting, "Why are you like this?"

"Good morning, Doctor." Jupiter responds.

"Does none of this phase you?" They continue.

Jupiter looks around the empty room, "None of what? Nothing's happening."

"I mean yesterday, the day before, our conversations."

Jupiter shrugs, "Today is a new day, you just keep moving forward."

The doctor shakes their head, "We have no more patients. There is no forward."

Jupiter smiles through their mask, "Now, are you lacking patients, or patience? Because you seem a little curt to me."

"A little?" The doctor shakes, "I'm losing my mind, human."

"Hey," Jupiter stops them, "Don't go calling me slurs, now."

"I simply do not understand how any of you built a civilization like this if you all act the way you do." Doctor corvid redirects.

"Stay in line, do what you're told, serve your purpose, fit where you fit." Jupiter shrugs, "It's that simple."

"That is the problem. I am an alien. I do not fit. I assumed that there were things that concious beings had in common, that i could fit." The doctor shakes their head, "I was wrong. You are entirely foreign to me."

"I guess that's why." Jupiter says, pulling their phone up to scroll as their voice trails into an abstract autopilot, "You grow into the box you get put in, you do the things put in front of you. If you're in the wrong box, or don't get those opportunities..."

"You lose your mind." Doctor corvid finishes.

"Yeah," Jupiter nods, "We all do, but they're the right kind of crazy, you know? And you're not."

lyrics

Hello Homo Sapiens x Neanderthalis,
Another day of faking that you got it

You're following the patterns but be honest,
There's an ideal way to be and you are not it.

Those who know most keep looking for where to start it.
Those who seem to get the least can afford to go the hardest.

You got a missing piece where the superhuman heart is,
You gotta borrow your opinions of what art is,

Divide time define lines strange ways we use it
With bloodlines by definition 3% inhuman.

Your beast's rough grip feeling like you're bound to lose it,
The times keep changing and you can't see through it,

You're drinking fructose, mixed with booze though,
Where'd those brain cells that you used to use go,

Smoking uppers hoping something comes around
To suffer with you at least,
As a buffer from your inner screams,
Not what you need.

Fallible, animal, systems, if-thens
Two thumbs two feet,
Too dumb to see what tricks them

It's insane, you let the wild tame you
Explain you away, but
I can't blame you

No revealing a meaning,
Cause and effect and nothing more.
You're just a being of dealing
With your whatever came before.

It's insane you,
Let the wild tame you
But I can't blame you
I can't blame you

Hello Homo sapiens domesticus,
What luck, Born to bigger boxes than the rest of us,

What waste staying safe in plain spaces,
No sidewalks, just bright lawns and wide pavement,
A cage for solitary containment, making your brains itch,
All this air of mundaneness, they were raised in

Wheels on pods, vacuum-sealed sanity,
Cut the feeds all off, value ideal vanity

Bigger seats, bigger screens, bigger means,
Bigger gaps between seams, with no lack of these needs

Compartmentalize every bit of noise,
The only thing to do between being bored and annoyed

We build farther apart, playsets in green yards,
With one on em, but all the neighbors got em

Everything in your environment beckons you to sit
Where you feel you never fit,
'cause everything's too fucking big

Fallible, animal, systems, if-thens
Two thumbs two feet, too dumb to see what tricks them

It's insane you,
Let the wild tame you
Explain you away but I guess
I can't blame you

No revealing a meaning, cause and effect and nothing more.
You're just a being of dealing with your whatever came before.

It's insane you,
Let the wild tame you
But I can't blame you
I can't blame you

Oh, nothing new, nothing new,
Nothing else that you're able to do,
Oh nothing new nothing new,
For you
You're cause and effect, at best
Sequence of if-thens in pre-programmed sets
Cause and effect at best,
Say we're only human but being human is stress

Fallible, animal, systems, if-thens
Two thumbs two feet,
Too dumb to see what tricks them

It's insane you,
Let the wild tame you
Explain you away but I guess
I can't blame you

No revealing a meaning,
Cause and effect and nothing more.
You're just a being of dealing
With your whatever came before.

It's insane you,
Let the wild tame you
I can't blame you
I can't blame you

Oh, I can't blame you
You're just a being of dealing with your whatever came before
Cause and effect and nothing more than that
Ooh, if-thens in preprogrammed sets,
So I guess I can't blame you,
I can't blame you, I can't blame you
