Sew together bag

Ich habe es noch einmal getan - eine Sew-together-bag genäht :-) Die erste habe ich im vergangenen Jahr zusammen mit Freundinnen genäht und schon damals habe ich mir vorgenommen, das noch einmal zu machen. Ich hatte auch eine Idee für die Außenseite - nur mit der Umsetzung hat es halt etwas gedauert. Aber jetzt ist sie fertig:

I did it again and sewed a Sew-together-bag :-) When I made the first one together with some friends of mine I already decided to make another one. I even had an idea how to create the outside part. It just took some time to realize this project. But now it's finished:

Ich habe für die Außenseite Reste der Stoffe vom Quilt für meine Tochter benutzt. Daraus habe ich Hexagons gemacht und brav zusammengenäht.

I used some leftover scraps from the quilt for my daughter, made hexies and created the outer part of the bag with them.

Und um mal zu verdeutlichen, wie lange ich die Fertigstellung dieser Tasche nun schon vor mir hergeschoben habe - die Hexies habe ich schon letztes Jahr im Januar angefangen und als Beschäftigung mit ins Krankenhaus genommen :-)

Just to tell you, how long it took me to finish this Sew-together-bag-project: I took those fabrics with me when I went to hospital last year in January and made the hexies there... :-)

Letzte Woche aber hat Bettina mich zum Weiternähen überredet. Sie wollte nämlich ihre erste Sew-together-bag nähen und das macht halt einfach mehr Spaß zu zweit :-) Mit der bebilderten Hilfestellung von Marlies muss man sich auch nicht immer so genau durch die Anleitung kämpfen. Denn so schön die Tasche ist, die Anleitung ist halt doch ein bisschen "dürftig" - ein paar Bilder hätten es schon sein dürfen... Egal, es hat alles ganz super geklappt und am Ende des Tages war meine Tasche fertig:

Last week my friend Bettina convinced me to finish my bag. She wanted to sew her first one and it is so much more fun to sew together - I'm sure, that's why this bag is called "Sew together bag" :-) I love this bag, but the instruction could be a little bit more detailed. Fortunately Marlies made a German Sew Along with lots of pictures, that makes it much easier to understand what to do... 
At the end of the day my bag was finished:

Ich hatte sie eigentlich für meine Tochter gedacht - weil doch die Stoffe so schön zu ihrer Decke passen... Nun hat Bettina vorgeschlagen, dass ich meine Tasche auch an eine gemeinsame Freundin verschenken könnte, die zufällig an unserem Nähtag Geburtstag hatte. Hm... Ich habe meiner Tochter die fertige Tasche dann gezeigt und sie gefragt, ob sie die gerne haben möchte oder ob ich sie an unsere Freundin verschenken soll. Meine Tochter hat die Tasche gedreht und gewendet, begutachtet und dann beschlossen "Gib sie Annette!" Tja, wenigstens ist sie ehrlich. Und Annette wird sich sicherlich freuen :-)

When I started sewing the bag I intended to give it to my daughter. Of course, as I used the fabrics of her quilt. But then Bettina suggested to give it to a friend of us who celebrated her birthday on our sewing day. Hm... difficult. Well, I showed the finished bag to my daughter and asked her, whether she wants to get it. She examined it and said "Give it to Annette!" Well, at least she is honest :-) And I'm sure, Annette will be more than happy!

Ich habe schon öfter mal Hexagons von Hand genäht - aber noch nie etwas daraus fertiggestellt. Das ist also jetzt eine richtige Premiere! :-)

I made EPP hexies once in a while but I never finished anything. So that's a real premiere!

Heute bin ich aus dem Krankenhaus heimgekommen - es tut gut, wieder in der vertrauten Umgebung zu sein! Vorhin lag ich gemütlich auf dem Sofa und habe mit meiner Katze geknuddelt - da werde ich bestimmt bald wieder fit :-)

Today I came back home from the hospital - it's so good to be back home! I cuddled quite a while with my cat - I'm sure that will help me to get well soon :-)

Bevor am Montag schon das fünfte Kapitel im German QAL - Tula Pink's City Sampler startet, muss ich jetzt mal meine Blöcke von letzter Woche bzw. alle Blöcke des vierten Kapitels zeigen. Aus dem Krankenhaus war mir das leider nicht möglich, der Zugriff auf sämtliche Blogs wurde von der dortigen Firewall verwehrt...
Also, am vergangenen Montag standen drei Blöcke auf dem Programm. Block Nr. 68 heißt bei mir ganz einfach "Eingekastelt":

Next Monday we'll start with chapter 5 in our German QAL - Tula Pink's City Sampler, but I still have to show you the blocks from last Monday. The firewall in the hospital's network didn't allow me to work on my blog posts or to have a look at other blogs... There were three blocks on our schedule last week. Block No 68 "Framed":

Insgesamt wächst der Quilt stetig. Es fehlen ja auch nur noch 30 Blöcke :-)

The quilt is growing and growing - there are only 30 more blocks missing :-)

Die letzten Tage habe ich nähtechnisch natürlich nicht besonders viel geleistet. Dennoch habe ich mir etwas zum Nähen in die Klinik mitgenommen und konnte ein paar Hexagons vorbereiten. Dafür habe ich Stoffreste vom neuen Quilt für meine Tochter mitgenommen.

Of course I wasn't really able to do a lot within the last days. But I took something to sew with me into the hospital and made some hexagons. I used some leftovers from the fabrics I'm currently using for the new quilt for my daughter.

Und ich konnte natürlich nicht widerstehen - bei Quilt&Textilkunst gibt es jetzt die Clover Wonder Clips in bunt. Die musste ich natürlich haben :-)

Sind die nicht stark?

Aren't they great?

Ich weiß nur noch nicht, was ich aus den Hexis mache und ob ich das überhaupt fertigstelle. Wer mich kennt weiß, dass meine Handnähprojekte lange unter den UFOs weilen :-))) Trotzdem hat es Spaß gemacht. So ein Tag im Krankenhaus ist halt lang und man kann nicht immer nur fernsehen, lesen, Musik hören, essen, schlafen, ratschen, an Krücken gehen üben ... Ein bisschen nähen zwischendurch bringt Abwechslung in den Krankenhausalltag :-)

I still don't know what to do with these hexis and whoever knows me knows, that my handsewing projects are something like never ending stories... Nevertheless I had a lot of fun making them. The days in the hospital are long and boring and you can't always watch TV, read, listen to music, eat, sleep, talk, train to walk with the crutches... A little bit of EPP brings more diversity to the hospital stay :-)
