about

Celestion is the lead track off Holocene's Spurr album - choc-full of hooks, harmonies, riffs, and crunchy rock guitars. Celestion perfectly encapsulates Holocene’s unique spirit: a boisterous, exuberant romp through the stars on a hotted-up postie bike, celebrating the timeless and universal love of music, and the good feelings that a bit of volume brings.
HOLOCENE is Duncan (drums & vocals), Jo-Anne (guitar & vocals), Kerrie (bass & vocals), and Mick (guitar & vocals). Originally getting together in the 1990s, the band released three well-received EPs and an album, Spurr (produced by Shellac’s Bob Weston), through Shock Records in 1995.
Invitations to reunite for some event shows – “So, how about it?” “Why not!” – brought Holocene out of their hiatus at last. They found that the guitars were miraculously still in tune, and the special Holocene magic was undiminished. Bring it on, and turn it up loud!

lyrics

Cold heat, Super-audio-fire
Mirror in electricity
You said just let it transform you
You found your divinity

Everyone wants their own angel
But I ain’t got one
What I got….
Celestion

All around you’s heavenly blue, now
Come down off your cloud
Is your halo starting to blind (or burn) you
Then turn it up loud

Everybody’s got a double
Reflections in the sun
You’re my twin….
Celestion

I can see a brand new dawn
That’s got no memory
We can ride the Ariel
And let our minds run free

Everyone wants their own angel,
But I ain’t got one
What I got…
Celestion

about

Holocene Australia Melbourne, Australia

A Melbourne delight, flying in the face of the city’s love of grunge, Holocene’s boisterous, harmony-driven guitar power pop and intergalactic imagery was punchier, brighter and more fun than anyone had a right to expect.

Holocene issued a trio of EP gems, Pop Astronauts, Flying and Guitarbarella, each brimming with melodic pop hooks and exquisite guitar work and followed up with Spurr in 1995.
