Fire Preparation Great advice for this fire PLEASE READ! Redding friends please read this - this is an important message from a Santa Rosa resident giving her advice/tips... To my Shasta/Redding Friends from a Santa Rosa resident; Compiled by several of us: Things I Wish I Knew That I didn’t know, Which You Probably Should. 1) Get a N95 rated facemask ASAP. . 2) If you evacuate, take both cars! *pack passports, birth certificates, drivers licenses, copies of insurance, prescription medicines, deeds, car titles, (or keep deeds in safe deposit boxes) 3) If you are not evacuating, reach out to people who may be doing so soon and offer them a place to stay. Evacuation centers are important but not the same as staying with someone you know and Evacs need every space they can get. 4) Sign up ASAP for notification services like Nixle. 5) Listen to local radio news. Our cell towers burned down, cable and power were off for days. You can listen on your phone on the TuneIn app. Pack charging cables. Keep an external battery charged up. 6) Take pictures of the inside of your home and upload them to the cloud storage today and send to someone trusted. *Important * Get the cell phone numbers of all your neighbors, and their closest relatives. In case of evac you can see if they’re safe. Get names/photos of their pets, in case they are left behind, for later rescue. 7) It ain't over until the fires are 100% contained. This will go on for days. 8)) Have Your gas tank full and ready. 9) Turn off your house gas main line just before you go. 10) if you are not in evacuation areas; get a backup battery for garage door. Many were trapped when power went out here. 11) Leave safely before you are forced to evacuate! 12) have pet carriers by the door. Animals panic and bolt out the door or car windows. We are still looking for pets in Sonoma county. Listen constantly and be ready to leave at any time. Stay safe.what would My Sonoma County friends add? feel free to share.
