My Totems are made from western cedar and primed with an esterior bonding primer before painting. (I DO NOT use pressure treated wood as paint will not bond to treated wood.) The paint I use is formulated for exterior mural use. They are then top coated with 3 coats of UV protecting marine varnish to prevent fading and to ensure a long life. However- If you wish to prolong their vivid color even more, I recommend placing them in a shaded area and that you store them indoors in the winter months when the sun is at it's harshest. Giving them a new coat of marine varnish every couple of years will prolong their life for many, many years. Message me if you would like to purchase extra clear coat.
