Creative Ideas
reward whole class behavior. I have a cut out of a jar taped to my whiteboard. There are also a bunch of magnetic gems. When the class WOW's me, I add a gem to the class jar. When other classes compliment our behavior in the hallway, the cafeteria, or Related Arts, I add a gem. When the class fills the whole jar, I let them vote on their class reward.

Primary Possibilities
Each child receives a color for positive behavior. If at the end of the week they have a complete rainbow they get a reward. Plus it is a reward system and not a disipline system!

or whole class behavior, we love Behavior BINGO! It's a great way to encourage great behavior choices and practice essential math skills as well. Students can earn numbers for hallway behavior, encore class behavior (music, art, PE, library, computer lab), cafeteria behavior, etc. Once we earn 10 in a row--it's BINGO! Students vote on our reward during weekly class meetings. Positively Learning: Behavior management...teacher points, student points. Students earn points when exceeding expectations and following directions, and teacher receives points each time he/she has to remind students of an expectation or rule. Goal is for teacher to have NO points...love this idea!

Positive Behavior Rewards
Interesting idea!! A secret student is randomly selected and the teacher monitors that student for the day. If the student does well, he/she is recognized and is rewarded. If he/she does not do well, the student is not named and the teacher just tells the class that the secret student did not have a good day but tomorrow will be a better day.

Posted Classroom Rules: Fine Motor
Love this! Have all students write one word of the class rules as "I can" statements. Take class pics with students holding up key word signs (maybe with ideas of how that rule looks on the back that groups come up with together) First Grade Promise for Positive Behavior, Classroom Rules blog post with 19 different examples from a variety of classrooms

The Wizard of Boz
Great classroom management idea to start the new year with! Students move their clips up from a piggy bank, to the penny, nickel, dime, and quarter as they make good choices throughout the day! Kids and parents love it!
