UK heavy lift and haulage company Collett & Sons has become the first to use a Goldhofer Blade Lifter on a wind farm in the UK. Working in partnership with P. Adams Transport, Collett was contracted to transport all wind turbine components to the Windy Rig wind farm in Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland. The 55 metre long blades were first transported 11 miles from the Port of Ayr to site using Collett’s Nooteboom super wing carriers before they were transferred onto the Blade Lifter #transport #UK
The Blade Lifter's hydraulic system allows the blades to be tilted to an angle of up to 60 degrees to negotiate tight bends etc... while also avoiding the need for extensive civil engineering works. The remaining tower sections were transported using specialist tower clamp trailers, while the 64 tonne nacelle and 61 tonne drive trains were moved using low bed trailers. #transport #truck #trailer

The four axle ATF 70G-4 has a six section 52.1 metre main boom and a nine to 16 metre bi-fold swingaway, providing a tip height of more than 71 metres and maximum radius of 44 metres.
