1.
It seems so bleak; summer blooms petals heat-touched and faded. These are days that drag like broken ankles. Illiterate: bated breath and foul tongues, "Why salt the earth when we've already torched the heavens like a failing business?" "Let it die! Let it die! Let the dry cough of what's to come nullify any hope." Barren plains bring victory. Fertile ground breeds comfort. No heretics, no guardians, just empty fields. A silent prayer for all those lost. Armageddon.
2.
Waste 02:34
Casual abomination clawing at the walls, hungry and eternal. A soft, ever growing drone. Here the sounds have shadows: deafening and cooling to the skin. Even the sharpest eye that sees small changes in the horizon line can’t stop the ground from giving way. The void is anxious. Pride found in failure is poison.
3.
Sungrass 01:19
They flower when exposed to light. “Water us, prune our leaves; roots kept strong, burrowed deep.” There was never hope when left to seed alone. Sown in fields of doubt, a world of burdened soil. Gathering a million strong awaiting word of a burnt-out sun forged from dirt: soldiers of ages lost and fallen limbs. “And as the dawn wakes up with air so thick it chokes fire we will rebuild what is lost. Bathe me in the light of a second sunrise.”
4.
Try to find a mother’s grace. Justify the sacrifices made. A dull scraping echoes through the halls of time. No celestial chorus or glorious silence, just the hum of drills boring through rusted metal and meat.
5.
Painted upon their bedroom wall: "This shit city eats the hopeful." Juvenile but unshakable. "As time moves forward, we're weighed down by guilt in the darkness watching plans fold like paper." Moments like this are harsh but fleeting.
6.
Strip 02:14
“I feel limbless.” As words devolved to grunts. Oils from knuckles smeared across the driver’s side window. It shuddered a moment but never did break. “Take a deep breath and hold it in, embrace the silence of shame.” “What now? Where’s hope? Even after anger fades, how can we move on?” The biggest lie that the world ever told is that there’s no way to heal these wounds. Find hope in dust.
7.
The new world cracks and shudders: the rites of birth. They make such swift advances as she speaks in tongues. “There seems to be a darkness beneath the earth, what of the answers to my questions?” “A stronger faith.” “A fleeting cause.” “New life takes shape.” “But at what cost? “All you love and no more.” “There’s no justice found here, it’s hate that hides.”
8.
War changes all before the innocent have found God’s humor indifferent after all. “Don’t speak, listen. Lie down and dream of the morning after.” The threat is over, but that doesn’t take away the sting from years of trauma tattooed on soft hearts that deserve to beat freely and without hurt. Flawed doesn’t mean broken.
9.
Doomsday 02:16
Faced with the thought of a future made of stained glass, they stand tall. A distant voice is heard crying out: “Oh, how I have longed for this ending. Callous, heartless, and well-deserved to fade. Half of a life wasted carving hopes into skin. Has this gone as you hoped? Your mouth has yet to fill with sand, speak now for there might not be the chance to take back all those words that you regret.” “I welcome doomsday.”
10.
The world is lonely: so vapid, so dulled. Such violence ascends misguided and cold. Fucking coward. Retribution.
11.
And lo, these towers built to teach now serve as reminders of where innocence meets bone and steel. Continued bloodshed. Insecure. Imagined protection is so comforting. “You patronize while children are the victims time and time again. You fucked this up. The decisions you have made on principle are at fault.” The eyes of God no longer focused on such a scene: depravity. The impotent continue to cull the young through their inaction. There’s no reason to allow this constant lack of change.
