Erik Salazar I had never heard of Dearly Departed before this was announced. But I know Johnny from FSI/IBR & his taste is impeccable. I knew this would be special without listening to 1 second before buying. I was right. This is phenomenal! I’m wrapping up my first listen & it’s hard to convey my feelings in 500 characters, but I’ll try. It’s beautiful melodic hardcore of the highest order that takes you on an emotional journey. It’s the best sounds of the 90’s/00’s we all know & love. It’s amazing. Get it! Favorite track: Juggling Chainsaws (Look Ma, No Hands).

DEARLY DEPARTED
“Rebirth: Vol 1 & 2” [IBR-008]

Dearly Departed Music is an early 2000’s Long Island hardcore “supergroup” of sorts, including members of Inside, Tension*, From Autumn To Ashes, Helen of Troy, and Scarab to name a few. This release is another great example of why I started this new label in the first place: to do fun, creative projects w/ bands I loved growing up in the 90’s LIHC scene thru the early 2000’s. Releasing stuff like this from years past, back into the wild on physical media formats, is what Icebreaker was made for.

So I am absolutely thrilled & honored to announce the full discography physical release for Dearly Departed Music, on cassette for the first time. This special edition double tape pack includes both full-length albums, “Believing In Ghosts” (2003) and “What Awaits Us” (2007), plus the debut EP “The Remains Of Maryanne Mayweather” (2002).

Limited press of 100 tape sets made for the band’s reunion show on November 1 at Amityville Music Hall, Long Island NY. Over 2 hours of music, all with beautifully haunting new 2025 artwork throughout courtesy of Loyal Design Co.

Both cassettes (cappuccino swirl & solid gold shells) are housed in a clear clamshell case w/ glossy cover insert that folds out into a mini-poster, plus a bunch of cool extras:

* 3 laminated tarot cards
* 4 x 6 postcard
* 2 die-cut band stickers
* Icebreaker logo sticker
