Mi primer y tal vez ultimo canciòn en español.
My first and last song written in Spanish, written in Bolivia in the vain hope of getting into the Chilean record industry*. It's about the endless cycle of violence by men against women, which was worse in Bolivia back then than in the UK but is maybe not now.
*There is a Chilean record industry.
lyrics
Español
Brilla, brilla esa estrella
Que alumbra á esta tierra
Por su tristesa en la luz
Es visible desde la luna.
Ciudades y pueblitos,
Campos, campos infinitos:
Una mapa tan completa,
Perlizado en la niebla.
Cuando esos angelitos
Pegan a sus nubes blancas
Con huascaritos, con los citos
Y se mueven, dicen ellos
Esto es el ciclo dicen.
Esto es el ciclo natural.
Ellos pegan, Ellas fugan
Por son de vidas agotadas.
Por caminos de lagrimas
Viajan en silencio.
Cada boca que calla
Hace mapa en el suelo.
Perlado la via.
Llega la llúvia.
?Como destruir a un ciclo
Que parece infinito?
Aún las llúvias cayeron
Y el pasto crecieron...
Como destruir a un ciclo
Que parece infinito
Aún las llúvias cayeron
Y el pasto crecieron...
Por el mundo para dar.
English
Shine, shine that star
That lights up this land
For its sadness in the light
Is visible from the moon.
Cities, small towns,
Fields, fields infinite:
Such a complete map
Pearlized in the fog.
When those little angels
Hit their white clouds
With little beatings and citations
And they move, they say
This is the cycle, they say.
This is the natural cycle.
The men hit, the women flee
Through exhausted lives:
Through paths of tears
They travel in silence.
Every mouth made silent
Makes a map in the soil.
Pearled, the road...
Comes the rain.
How to destroy a cycle
Which seems infinite?
Still the rains fell
And the grass grew.
How to destroy a cycle
Which seems infinite?
Still the rains fell
And the grass grew,
For the world to give.
Member of 90s alt rock band Disco Inferno. Newer solo recordings largely go into the pictorial 'filmsound' style, where the mix is closer to a moving picture.
Most comeback albums are either pale replicas of the past or bad imitations of current trends. Soft Bonds surprises and excels in that it makes previous Insides efforts feel like a lead up to this release. Kirsty's vocals are already superb and a given, it is the beautifully restrained and eclectic backing tracks that elevate this release and don't mire it in any time period. Richard Grant
I love every Epic45 album for different reasons, but the 'heavier' moments on tracks like 'Buildings Aren't Haunted, People Are' sound like the most exciting and reinvigorated output for quite awhile. Stephen Healy
This is my absolute favorite album of all time, words can not even begin to describe how much I love it. It nails the concept of dementia as an album perfectly 100/10. I don't know if I could find anything better than this. rod
