Akbash

Height: 28-34 inches Weight: 90-120 pounds Origin: Turkey The name Akbash is Turkish meaning for “white head.” Traditionally used as a livestock guardian dog in its homeland, the white coat of an Akbash helps them blend in with the flock they're protecting. Recognition of the Akbash as a distinct breed resulted from fieldwork done in the 1970s by Americans David and Judy Nelson, who studied them during their stay in Turkey.
