Huguette Arthur-Bertrand

France (1922-2005) Ecole de Paris; the leading female member of the Abstraction-Lyrique group, with artists such as Camille Bryen, André Lanskoy and Pierre Soulages, After the Liberation, she quickly became immersed into the avant-garde circles of Saint-Germain-des-Prés and began exhibiting at the Salon des Moins des Trente Ans. In 1947 she was awarded the Laureate du Concours. By 1949 her paintings had reached pure abstraction which she exhibited at the Salon de Mai. (Hanina art gallery)
