No one imagines giving birth to a premature baby
After I had recovered a bit from delivery and regained the feeling in my legs (thanks epidural!), I was allowed to be taken to the NICU to see my tiny girl for the first time. It was different than I could’ve ever imagined, ever thought of, ever contemplated. Seeing your baby hooked up to machines and not being allowed to touch them — it is indescribable. Knowing that you just gave birth to this amazing little being but can’t hold them — it’s rough. I felt this enormous feeling of love for her, but also felt this huge feeling of guilt that my body didn’t do what it’s 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘥 to do by carrying a baby to full term…dealing with both of those feelings simultaneously isn’t something I would wish on anyone. But here she was, tiny and mighty — my little warrior 💪🏼 #prettylittlepreemie
