I’ve always dreamed about painting with texture. I admire the irregularities, soft shapes and organic feel that it has. In nature, textured rocks, landscapes or any surface really is Imperfect. Me admiring that was one thing, but letting go of my “perfectionism” and creating imperfect piece of art wasn’t easy at all. It took me over a year to create it and another year until I decided to share it with the world.

“Stones of the Sky” by Pablo Neruda was my inspiration for this series. I had recently moved back to Southern California after spending several years on the East Coast. Reengaging with the terrain, I was confronted by the passage of time; the dignified vistas, desert flora and stones transformed by fire, water, wind, and time. This poetic lens graces the surreal and the serene, revealed by magnetic color.
The Wait is about the silence before the wave, the time between energy and inertia. The unseen forces creating the cycles of waves, the gravitational pull of the moon, the energy of the wind. Surfing is a sport governed by the our lunar neighbor, and a moment of daring alignment. “Purest space coming from afar”. I get clarity observing it, a reminder that our lives are energized by celestial bodies.
