Art: Frida

Frida was born in Mexico City on July 6, 1907 & died there July 13, 1954...only 47 years old. Best known for her self portraits, she was once quoted as saying, "I paint myself because I am so often alone & because I am the subject I know best." She suffered greatly during her life, firstly due to a horrific traffic accident & secondly due to her volatile marriage to the famous Mexican artist, Diego Rivera. The movie "Frida" about her life helped make me a huge fan of this amazing woman. Enjoy!
