I've always wanted to try punch needle but thought it might be too time consuming and/or difficult. I was wrong on both accounts. It's quick and easy to pick up and you can make beautiful things in a matter of hours. Each of these stools took 3 hours to punch, not including upholstering, but that didn't take much more time either. I finished my "side project" ! I purchased this antique footstool a long while ago with the thought of hooking a top for it. Oh the stories it could tell . . . under layers of added covers I found bits of wool and even a quite early man's vest folded up as padding! Yes, they really did "make do" long ago.
