River & Zuricka | The Sniff Walkers on Instagram: "I saw her picking her dog's poo, muttering under her breath.

My dog River and I were on our daily sniff walk when we passed Amanda. I noticed her dog’s poop soft logs, moist but not firm.

Was your dog sick recently? I asked.
She stood up, surprised. “Yeah, 4 weeks ago! How did you know?”

I smiled, been through it. That’s a gut-healing poop.

She sighed, it's his 4th poo for the day. I don’t know why he is pooping so much Vet visit cost $480. Follow-ups are $80 so opt to feed fresh bland food

Here’s the wild thing:

📌 After diarrhea, the gut microbiome is still rebuilding
📌 Small shifts in fat/protein/volume can trigger more poops
📌 Their colon is literally retraining itself (it’s called post-infectious motility and it’s temporary)

Kim Paciotti Puppy Training Specialist CPDT-KA on Instagram: "Is your puppy going to freak out the first time they walk beside a stroller, bike, or scooter?

Not if you teach them before it happens.

This is one of the first leash lessons I teach—calm walking with gentle motion nearby. In this case, a stroller.

Don’t have a stroller?
Try pulling a suitcase, rolling a laundry basket, pushing a toy cart, or even using a trash bin with wheels.
It’s not about what you use—it’s about teaching your puppy that things can move near them without being scary or exciting.

Here’s how we start:
🔹 Quiet space with no other distractions
🔹 Slow figure-8s to build rhythm and connection
🔹 Light, controlled motion as a gentle challenge
🔹 Rewards only for steady, calm focus

No chaos. No corrections. No

River & Zuricka | The Sniff Walkers on Instagram: "At first, I thought letting my dog sniff pee & poo was just gross.
So, like some dog owners, I rushed my dog River along on walks.

My friend would say:

🥴 Don't let her stop too much.
🥴 You're the pack leader; she needs to listen.
🥴 It’s dirty keep her away from that!

I believed it… until I started researching canine behavior, neuroscience & scent cognition.

And what I learned shocked me.

🔥 Sniffing pee & poo isn’t just curiosity, it’s hard core data collection.

Here’s What Your Dog Learns From a Single Sniff:
💩 A Dog's Waste Contains:
🔹 Hormones (Is this dog in heat or Neutered?)
🔹 Stress Levels (High cortisol = anxious dog)
🔹 Diet Information (Kibble-fed vs. raw-fed)
🔹 Health Markers (Illness, infection, gut health)

If it’s too hot for your bare feet, it’s way too hot for their paws.
Walk early. Walk late. Or stick to the grass. Don’t burn your best friend."

Jessica L Kauffman | Happy Dog Mom on Instagram: "Most dogs should have at least one to two walks per day, with the length and intensity varying based on breed, age, and individual needs. Walks are crucial for physical and mental well-being, offering exercise, mental stimulation, and opportunities for socialization.
Why walks are important:
Physical Health:
Walks help maintain a healthy weight, strengthen muscles and bones, improve cardiovascular fitness, and can reduce the risk of obesity-related health issues.
Mental Health:
Dogs need mental stimulation to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. Walks provide new sights, sounds, and smells, keeping their minds active and engaged.

Taylor Cezanne | Dog Training on Instagram: "Your sweet 4-month-old puppy suddenly turned into a little terror and you’re wondering what you did wrong? 😩

Let me tell you something - YOU DID NOTHING WRONG. This is completely normal puppy development, and every single puppy parent goes through this exact phase.

At 3 months, your puppy was still figuring out their new world, sticking close to you, seeming so well-behaved. Now at 4 months? Their confidence kicked in and they’re like “Wait, I don’t HAVE to listen to you!” 🙄

This is normal brain development, not your failure as a puppy parent.

Here’s what’s actually happening: ✨ Their confidence is growing (which is GOOD!) ✨ They’re testing boundaries (also normal!) ✨ They can focus longer now (10-15 minutes vs 2-3 minutes) ✨ They need mor

Ridge | Dog Psychology & Human Training on Instagram: "Harnesses are for tracking and pulling.

Putting your dog in a harness sets them up to pull, which sets them up to be in front of you on the walk, all of which sends the message they are leading.

MOST DOGS DO NOT WANT TO LEAD. It is stressful and most dogs are not equipped for the job. If your dog is reactive on leash, they likely believe they need to lead and/or that you will not protect them. Not a good feeling for anyone.

Bottom line is the freedom many people give dogs creates anxiety. You think you are doing something good when in actuality it does the opposite - and the most unfortunate part is most people never realize what’s happening.

There is a time for exploring and chasing. It is not on the walk. If you allow this, you

Control. Manage so well that your dog doesn’t practice the behavior.

Teach your dog skills that help you in stressful moments. It also, down the line, makes it easier to correct for non compliance of a known command, versus fighting fire with fire.

Condition that walking to your dog doesn’t always equal subtraction, sometimes it equals ➕

Don’t forget the small boundaries in life that go unchecked, but not unnoticed by your dog. At the end of the day, respect is necessary.

Build a better relationship with your dog through proper training."

Kim Paciotti Puppy Training Specialist CPDT-KA on Instagram: "If your puppy grabs everything...
You’ve probably said “no” more times than you can count.

But here’s the truth no one tells you:
Saying “no” doesn’t stop the behavior. It just ends the moment.
And usually… your puppy doesn’t even understand why.

Instead, I teach this way 👇
✅ I make the item tempting
✅ I stay calm—no luring, no chasing
✅ I reward not grabbing
✅ The puppy learns to pause, think, and ignore

Why this works:
• It prevents the habit before it forms
• It builds understanding, not just avoidance
• It teaches real-world self-control
This is how you raise a puppy who walks past the towel, ignores the sock, and doesn’t see your clothes as a toy.

No stress. No scolding.

Just a puppy who knows what to do.

Ian Grant | Vermont Dog Trainer on Instagram: "If you don’t provide rules and boundaries for your dog, you’re leaving it up to them to figure out how to live with you.

And if you get a puppy, well good luck to that young brain that’s trying to figure out what the expectations are.

This is why we don’t send 8 year-olds to college."
