The Vikings
The Vikings by Elizabeth Janeway. Loved this book so much. Made me interested in Scandinavian and Viking history. Part of the Landmark Book series, historical fiction that my mother loves to use for homeschool. The books are older (so they have good quality writing) but it looks like they recently started republishing them and making them available.

The Saturdays (Melendy Quartet) by Elizabeth Enright Around 4th-6th grade level. Loved this series so much. Not a lot of historical value, just some fun, descriptive , interesting writing. Enright is such a great writer. See also Thimble Summer and Gone-Away Lake.
