Living Rock – Massive Monuments Carved In Situ
The Ajanta Caves Aurangabad district of Maharashtra, India are 29 rock-cut cave monuments which date from the 2nd century BC. The caves include paintings and sculptures considered to be masterpieces of both Buddhist religious art (which depict the Jataka tales)as well as frescos which are reminiscent of the Sigiriya paintings in Sri Lanka.

Nyatapola Temple is a 5-story pagoda located in Bhaktapur, Nepal. Built in 1702 A.D. under the rule of King Bhupatindra Malla, this beautifully sculptured building is considered one of the tallest pagodas in the country and is a lovely example of the immense workmanship that went into buildings of this type.
