Photosynthesis Activities
Have your students model the process of photosynthesis with this hands-on activity using simple materials. Students will discover the products and reactants of photosynthesis by modeling the molecules involved using beads and pipe cleaners. Different colored blocks that connect (such as LEGO) can also be used. This lesson is highly effective to allow students to “see” what happens with the different elements during photosynthesis. Great to use as an “Explore” activity in a 5E lesson.
Use this printable, differentiated foldable notes resource to guide students during your lesson OR as a template for kids to research Photosynthesis. Covers the process and equation for photosynthesis and has a beautiful diagram (illustration) for student reference. Includes a student answer worksheet for the 12 task cards. Place in interactive notebooks or print poster sized and use as an anchor chart for small groups. A great stations activity. #5thgrade #photosynthesis #4thgrade #lessons

Photosynthesis is a difficult concept for third graders - even older grades really, depending on how in-depth you go with it. When I teach my plant unit, I always make sure that I am introducing it, but I am keeping the idea of photosynthesis to a surface level. Here is how I teach photosynthesis to my students, while still making it easy to understand AND making it engaging! First, I don't go into all the major details. Instead, I just keep it simple by saying that plants take energy…
