Wallace Lovecraft I remember listening to this while playing shining pearl on a cool day, it was beautiful. Confusing questions made me laugh cause I imagined iji going about his day then being stopped by someone. Or I'll be honest, it's a mental battle with the voices in his head. Abandon thing is sad. I waited years for another true full album, and it didn't disappoint. Another masterpiece from the band. Favorite track: Silverlake Flames.

Onomatopoeia 03:37
I want to take it all back, every line ever spoken / hung shrouded in smoke / and at such a blurred resolution / with much more to unpack / so many eyes cross the page / from many different directions / to see the letters arranged as tiny meaningless markings / now beginning to dance / the thoughts come scribbling in / well they can show themselves out / so often miss-understood / anxious lies / secret doubts / till only one expression remains / the onomatopoeia / boom boom bang / the instrumental part goes la da da da da da ding dong / crash, slap, bang, and skwonk / and that subsequent emotion stands at a loss of all words / so now we walk through the sound / from every side / waves just reverberate and pass through the mind / no needing to understand the cry of the onomatopoeia / flying atcha / look out
2.
Iridescent stone and sky and light and space / stretching timelines slowly out from grace / what’s up? / scrunching into balls and rolling up the hill / seashells broken, scattered where roots expose themselves / dead rats and tissues on the ground / mountain dew / fountain / pink space in the heal of the boot / splintered light and metal wheels zip in and out the narrowness in green chrome / attachments tested, attention hailed in flips / faces wrinkle, branches twist and crack screens / puddles of McDonald's yellow / make words / shut trap / never found a way back / not home, but not alone / the first lickers of the rock
3.
a fear of all things different a mistrust of all that’s new / misunderstood traditions / a lack of trust / a claim of truth / such vicious malnourishment / could they know not what they do? / it goes around and around and it’s building on up / round and around and it’s bubbling up (uh oh) / round and around and now they’re taking it out on you / a pinch a prod / reminders of a person who hurt you / projections on a bubble everything stumbles into / a flinch / a premonition / an unconscious subtle move /// an echo from your childhood / the stars pulling from the sky / a biased cold denial of the twinkle in your eye / and a heady explanation from a bitter little guy / it goes around and around and it’s building on up / round and around and it’s bubbling up (uh oh) / round and around and now they’re taking it out on you
4.
someone started this garden probably 35 years ago / and now it thrives in front of somebody else’s home / these people must have real good jobs / they remodel the roofing in endless construction / desert birds flying over and look how the yucca’s growing / and the cactus is sprouting arms / walk a little more around the block to see a dead head sticker on a t***a truck / who knows how deep or how far? / and I just stepped on a hot wheels car / no bench to sit down on / no woods to go wander / so I guess I’ll keep walking through that old residential zone / and wave to the guy in the window / sorry / was this property private? / I’ll turn back at the sign post / something about guns next to a couple convertibles / painted silverlake flames on purple / I get a little higher above the hill / to see the hollywood sign and I guess that’s chill / but my wandering mind remains mostly unsatisfied / some city employee must have painted these arrows / while some youthful poet sprayed a protest up on the wall / in a frowning face squiggle scrawl / next to “smile you’re on camera”, “this drains to the ocean”, “protected by ADT”, and “unauthorized vehicles will honestly get themselves towed” / early to bed and early to rise in somebody else’s life / somebody else’s dog / somebody else’s open garage / on somebody different’s walk / who’d better be heading home
5.
Fear of What 04:35
I’m afraid of what of what I can’t remember / must be something flashed before my eyes / endless days of what of what and ever after / there’s nothing to fear they tell me / “it’s alright” / features under the moon / tuning in to a shadow of motion un-embodied / sweat drip over mine eyebrows and conjures some tough “what” / hey that’s enough / why am I listening to me? / I put wind in the branches / I built a floor on the creek / and my closet door’s open / both feet pointed in / it begins / I’m afraid of what of what I can’t remember / fear that lingers / fear in a disguise / and the days of what of what and what comes after / and what once was / and who turned out the lights? / there we go again / spinning out into a whirlwind / and it pulls me to the edge of another terrifying precipice / and you wouldn’t want to slip / I’m afraid of what of what / I can’t remember / hey there we go again / blasting out into some infinite / illusion around the bend / and in the dark still after all of it / why

testifying to a jury of my peers / I’m amazed you’d all wanna hear so much about me / if I can find some words to say I’ll let everybody know / stood up kicked my boots around the dust / did a curtsey for the camera hoping this might garner trust / the same as yesterday / I think it’s working for me / you ask so many questions / how ya doing? / may I help you? / why such confusing questions all the time? / you ask so many questions / are you in there? / what’s behind those eyes? / such confusing questions all the time / checking boxes on a lengthy scroll / give em some energy and mash the buttons on that phone / while careless chatter drifts into the ears of strange old men / awakened eyes just get re-hypnotized / so get out of my head before some truths get spread / you ask so many questions / when’s your birthday? / who keeps asking? / why such confusing questions all the time? / you ask so many questions / I’m divided / none of this feels right / such confusing questions all the time / another whim to pull away / to change the subject / try and play / I asked you here but I’m afraid / and now I’ve nothing left to say / you ask so many questions / would you believe it? / can I please have some? / why such confusing questions all the time / you ask so many questions / do you work here? / will someone apologize? / such confusing questions all the time

I thought it good and fell into a dream about a goat during last nights new moon / and then awake / and driving through the blue and green / remembering no afternoon / dominus vobiscum et cum espiritu / holy spirit, tie my shoe / “around and over under up and through” / a happy meal / kiwanas pool / cement just holding river rocks / water slips through / the family cat / a shadow moves / and speaking in a voice I bet my dad would do / he’s joking too / dominus vobiscum et cum espiritu / holy spirit, tie my shoe / “around and over under up and through” / I saw with my own eye

Worlding Way 04:22
we’re carving out a new world / worlding a new way / picturing the next thing / and counting on a someday / they say everything’s been done / it hasn’t / and so much of what’s already been done deserves a little more attention / just walking some path / who cares where it ends / when some idea like lightening comes to smash through the back of your head / wow / we’re carving out a new world / worlding a new way / picturing the next thing / and counting on a someday / how does one react to something new? / with nothing to compare it to / now we ask for the strength to see and applaud what’s yet to be / they say everything’s been done / it hasn’t / we’ve been through this before but come on it deserves a little more attention / ignoring the map / who cares what it says / here’s an idea for another idea that may someday exist / wow / we’re carving out a new world / worlding a new way / picturing the next thing / and counting on a someday / we’re looking up the next life / in speculative display / trusting that this will come / and it’s nothing new to do this
9.
you abandoned me / I thought of you as part of my family / we used to laugh and talk about everything / why did you abandon me / this abandon thing is popping up again reliably / I lost another friend in mystery / why did you abandon me / maybe I was just too much to take / you ran away to figure out what else you need / or could it be I pushed to hard to take a part in realizing those big dreams / come on why did you abandon me? / our history is cycling my head and spinning me / back behind the wheel / I’m driving towards somewhere we once had to be / I’m listening / then zoning out again religiously / inside the inside joke I once believed we’d continuously come to see / could it be you’re just busy? / and missing me? / and waiting for some time to breath? / or maybe you’re just moving on and on and on / and that’s just how it has to be / why did you abandon me? / could you recognize this feeling? / would you come and tell me whats up? / why didn’t you think you could trust me to see whatever’s changed inside you? / I’d try to / I’m so ashamed to tell all just how much this hurts me / maybe it’s some masculine thing embedded deep within our psyche / likely / I don’t want to lose another friend ever again
10.
what do they expect me to do? / hand all of my energy to some false idol that’s been long proven untrue? / is that what they’d like me to do? / and what’s everyone gonna say? / I went out a tried my darnedest any old way / and like everyones gotta get payed in some kinda backwards way / did you read my resume? / I’m not a professional anything / this is who I am this is what I bring / I hammered myself a janky ring / and it says I’m not a professional anything / look into my eyes and you might see there’s just something else going on with me instead / I’m not a professional / what do they expect us to do? / continuously reapply to buy into the ruse? / and drown our inherited blues with any poison we’ve the right to chose / and how is this all going to end? / everyone destroying themselves and each other in the name of some meaningless competition that we never really agreed from the start to take part in / I’m not a professional anything / this is who I am this is how I sing / and I wrote you a clunky melody to address I’m not a professional anything / look into my eyes and feel the sting / or simply take no advice from me / like I said I’m not a professional

She Sees 05:35
a momentary vision cuts through the rock and roll / an untrustworthy instinct rooted deep with in his soul / a gifted intuition detects some scary truth / that others fail to notice cause his eyes rarely show the proof / she sees / the sight of pure perception / a disbelief dispute / a slow dance with these powers since they chose her in her youth / time will settle questions / with validating proof / when almost every insight one day shows itself to you / she sees / she sees what no one else sees / how does she know? / a flag for every feeling whose ghosts fill up this room / a roar of stacking voices from the heads of passing dudes / the pressures of adulthood can sometimes drown it out / but when it flows it floods in / this curse / this gift / this cloud / she sees
