It was the weekend of the doomed election. I grabbed the thing most important to me and dragged her to Paris for two days with no money and a couple of sandwiches. I wrote this in response to how important it was to distill the chaos and anxiety of both of our lives down to family, laughing, existing. But not an inch of me wanted to return to everyday life. I guess the sentiment remains strong in our current situation. I hope everyone is managing through, you're not alone x
lyrics
A cold paris night
keep you awake
- for a while at least
I’ve missed your smile
I’m glad we’re here
Not at home on this bleak weekend
Tomorrow I’ll take you to Saint Chapelle
I long to see your face when you look up
I’m so glad we’re here
Sharing clothes
Sharing makeup
It's what I wished for on your first birthday
I know they have plans for you
but can we stay in this bedsit for two?
Don't really know what to do with my time
How can I elongate Paris with you?
I’m sorry we to had to fly
I know you hate that
and so should I
God you’re too good
I hope they know
I’ll let them know
Who do I write to?
I cup your hand, once so small,
still,
we are against Joni and the heart marked trees
It’s just me and just you
at the very root of ourselves
I know they have plans for you
But we can stay in this bedsit for two?
Not really sure what to do with my time
How can I elongate Paris with you?
