"For a start-up with 300-odd employees based in Ohio that provides a niche service, a sudden spike of public interest was too good an opportunity to pass up. So, Astronomer decided to get advertising maverick Ryan Reynolds to turn the controversy into a cool marketing strategy. Reynolds’ company, Maximum Effort, recently released a video featuring actor and entrepreneur Gwyneth Paltrow, who also happens to be Chris Martin’s ex-wife, to diffuse the negative chatter around Astronomer. More leaves taken out of the book of crisis management: formulate a solid strategic response and execute it carefully." Somak Ghoshal writes about how Astronomer’s comeback after the inglorious exit of its former CEO Andy Byron is a case study for crisis management https://lnkd.in/deRpjYHQ

"Journalists don’t collaborate. They ask, question, probe, even interrogate. Features journalists like myself don’t often work on scams and exposes, but still, when we meet a business leader, we are not merely looking to parrot their views or give them a nice shiny aura. We contextualise both the positive and negative information we are given and we always, always strive to craft a narrative that is fair and balanced while being incisive. We are not in the business of writing hagiographies, for which we need to “collaborate" with our subjects. You know who collaborates? Influencers." Shrabonti Bagchi writes about terms from influencer marketing creeping into PR conversations with journalists https://lnkd.in/g_52uchp

Our relationship with money is deeply entrenched with our own personalities. The way we handle money is often a reflection of ourselves—our gender, our upbringing, our childhood, our aspirations, and our trauma. It’s so deep that even the words we use to describe other people often have money laced connotations. Generous, miserly, shrewd, careless. Like nutrition, fitness or K-pop, money is just a language, with its own rules, grammar and vocabulary, writes Lavanya Mohan in her book 'Money Doesn't Grow On Trees' https://lnkd.in/gTwN67nX

Former Google executive Anne-Laure Le Cunff offers tools to fight toxic productivity and procrastination that can be a replacement of the tried and tested SMART goal framework for productivity: S.M.A.R.T goals tend to be overly focused on outcomes and the metrics attached to them. With no wiggle room for recalibration, these goals either leave you feeling triumphant or like a loser. Especially if the goal in question is personal, such as reaching a certain designation in a specific period of time, this framework may lead to burnout if not met. Le Cunff suggests that we shift towards setting non-linear goals and make a P.A.C.T. that is focused on the process and the output. Her acronym—Purposeful, Actionable, Continuous and Trackable—is an antidote to empirical metrics of productivity. https://lnkd.in/gxUcqiXR

Therapist Sonali Gupta writes that her clients aged 15-32 mention a feeling of disconnection, isolation and a desire for intimacy and depth in relationships. "I have never in my career heard so many people talk about loneliness repeatedly in sessions. Earlier festivals and holidays seemed to be moments when clients would talk about how lonely they feel, but now it seems to be the background against which a lot of young people’s lives are playing out," she says.
