Every market correction comes with the same question: "𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭?" This photo with Nilesh Shah was taken when markets were navigating one of the most uncertain phases of the year. Tariff-related concerns dominated the headlines. The Strait of Hormuz crisis added to geopolitical uncertainty. Fear was everywhere. Conversations quickly shifted from "𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐛𝐮𝐲?" 𝐭𝐨 "𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐭?" A few weeks later, sentiment changed. It usually does. 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈'𝐯𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 - 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. Anyone can stay invested when portfolios are making new highs. The real challenge begins when every headline gives you a reason to worry. That's when experience becomes invaluable. Not because experienced investors can predict the future. But because they've lived through enough market cycles to know that uncertainty is part of investing, not an exception to it. Every generation believes its crisis is unique. The names change. The headlines change. Human behaviour doesn't. Looking back at this picture reminded me of a lesson that's equally true for markets, careers and life: Don't make long-term decisions based on short-term emotions. That's easier said than done, but often the difference between reacting and compounding. Thank you, Nilesh Shah, for the insightful conversation and for sharing perspectives that are far more valuable than predictions. What's one investing lesson that only experience, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬, has taught you? 𝐏.𝐒. 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐱 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐲 1600+ 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐲 500+ 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬! Scaling a product is easy. Scaling it without breaking it is a different game entirely. Khurram Javed Mir, our CMO at Kualitee, has spent over a decade watching product and engineering teams hit the same wall not because they lack talent, but because their QA process was never built to scale with them. This week he's breaking down 3 myths that are quietly slowing teams down: → That experienced testers don't need a structured process (ad hoc testing wastes up to 30% of QA time every sprint) → That running the full regression suite on every fix is the safe choice (it's actually killing your velocity) → That AI in testing is just automation with a fancier name (it's not it's the difference between a tester and a Quality Architect) If your team is shipping faster but catching defects later, the process is the problem not the people. Drop your biggest QA scaling challenge in the comments. 👇

Small automation win from this week 🚀 I worked on a learner progress update email automation using Power Automate, Excel, and Outlook. The problem statement was simple but very common in operations: when learner count is high, sending individual progress update emails manually becomes time-consuming and repetitive. The workflow I created uses: ✅ A formulated Excel tracker to calculate progress, status, pending items, and email trigger logic ✅ Power Automate to read learner rows from the tracker ✅ A condition-based check to send emails only where required ✅ Outlook integration to trigger progress update emails ✅ Percentage formatting to ensure progress displays correctly ✅ Pagination support for larger learner trackers ✅ Scheduled and manual run options This helped convert a manual process into a scalable workflow that can potentially be reused across similar program operations. For me, the biggest learning was that automation is not just about the tool — it is about structuring the process properly before automating it. #PowerAutomate #Excel #Outlook #Automation #ProcessImprovement #ProgramManagement #OperationsExcellence #WorkflowAutomation

The most expensive cloud cost is downtime. Cloud cost optimisation is worth doing. Everyone wants cleaner infrastructure and a lower monthly bill. But I have seen a pattern across SaaS teams. One incident, one failed recovery, or one bad deployment can cost more than months of savings. Not just in money. In trust. In momentum. In customers asking uncomfortable questions. The real issue is not “can we reduce spend by 30%”. It is “if something breaks, can we recover quickly and calmly”. Out of interest, do you regularly test restores, or are you relying on backups being there if you ever need them?

We just published the first blog in the Zepto Search Engineering series - Sharing how we built search from the ground up and scaled it for one of India’s largest quick-commerce platforms. - Search in quick commerce is not just about matching keywords. - At Zepto, the contract with every user is harder than it looks — resolve what they meant, where they are, and what’s available to them right now, across a hyperlocal delivery network where inventory changes with every order. - In our latest Zepto Engineering blog, we unpack how search is built for a 10-minute world — a system that understands how India actually types, combines lexical and semantic retrieval, resolves hyperlocal inventory, and ranks results through a Mixture of Experts model that adapts to every user in real time. - This is the architecture behind helping users find what they mean — not just what they type. This blog sets the foundation for the series. In the upcoming posts, we’ll go deeper into the engineering challenges, design decisions, and systems that power search at scale. “Product management is garbage…. …if you have no idea what it is. My SDE friends in startups complain that their product manager is utterly useless because apparently, they add no value to the team. But if you work with a great PM, it will blow your mind to know how they can shape your workflow and efficiency.” I was talking to a friend who has been working in product for 4 years in 2021. He is good at what he does and is articulate as well. But when I asked him what he understands by product management, it was eye-opening. Now that I have experience working as a PM in early to mid-stage startups, I share a very similar opinion. I don’t care what we name a person who has to think of product vision, strategy, product discovery, user journey, value proposition, and market strategy. But if we wish to name that person as product manager, the value they can add to the company is unquestionable. Since 2021, I have been obsessed with the idea of becoming a great PM. In the process, I have watched 100+ hours of Product Management content through Podcasts and videos, read at least 2 dozen peer-reviewed papers, and also read 3 books on the same subject. It took so much time (and Marty Cagan’s content) to truly appreciate the essence of being a PM. No wonder freshers are confused about this role. There are lots of courses and content online but it lacks a first principles approach. Too much jargon. Product Management is all about managing 4 risks. 1) Value risk - does the product deliver value for users? 2) Usability risk - will the users be able to use the product? 3) Feasibility risk - is it technically possible to build the product? 4) Viability risk - even if all the above risks are mitigated, will it make business sense to build the product? Try to answer these above questions and you’re on your way to becoming a PM! "𝗩𝗶𝗯𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴" is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about terms in the AI world. At its core, it represents a shift in how software is built. Instead of focusing solely on writing code line by line, developers increasingly work with AI by describing ideas, refining prompts, and iterating on solutions together. While AI can dramatically speed up development, it's not replacing engineering fundamentals. Strong technical judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to evaluate AI-generated code remain as important as ever. The future of software development isn't just about writing better code—it's about collaborating more effectively with intelligent tools. #ArtificialIntelligence #AICoding #SoftwareDevelopment #FutureOfWork #GenerativeAI #Emeritus

A PM once said to me, “Humara toh kaam hi PRD banana hai.” I had to interrupt and say Product Management is far more than just writing PRDs. Yes, PRDs are important. But a PM’s job doesn’t end at documentation. Just like we build products for a target audience, we should build PRDs keeping in mind who is going to read them engineers, designers, leadership, business teams. If they can’t clearly understand the why, what, and impact, then the PRD has failed, no matter how detailed it is. At the core, Vision & Strategy define great product management. Without a clear vision, PRDs become task lists instead of direction setters. Along with that comes: • Stakeholder alignment • Problem discovery • Prioritization • Decision-making under ambiguity • Owning outcomes, not just outputs So let’s stop reducing PM work to “PRD banana.” PRDs are a tool thinking, clarity, and ownership are the real job. #ProductManagement #PMThoughts #ProductLeadership #Founders #CXO #CPO
