Honest current market situation that nobody likes to speak about. 1. It's almost impossible for a fresher from #tier2/#tier3 college graduate to get a job. 2. Doesn't matter your frontend/backend/qe expertise unless your placed from college it's very hard to get an interview call. 3. Most paid courses / ed-tech firms take thousands of rupees and hardly 10% of them end up getting a good job. 4. Most HR'S / recruiters don't respond to you over linked if you're a fresher. Stop spreading fake news like take my course and you will get a job. If at all someone wants to help freshers, give them internship opportunities or refer them to some startups that you're aware of. let me know what you feel about current job market, if you're a fresher Vasanth Bhat

I recently got promoted to Senior Software Engineer at Intuit. Here are the few things that I kept in my mind to transition to SDE2 role to SSE. ✅ Focusing on growth - I kept learning new things, be it System Design, DSA, or just a new language. ✅ Solving customer problems - Apart from my daily work, I tried to understand the exact problems the customers were facing and attempted to solve them. ✅ Learning from my seniors - I observed how they approached coding but more than that, I tried to tap into their insights and learned from their experience. And I would say this to you, too — Take 1 step towards your goal daily, be it a promotion or transition But I also know it is easier said than done. Is renting in Bangalore really expensive? Depending on your preferences, you can live very cheaply too. Most social media posts cover only the expensive side of things. When I first came to Bangalore in 2019, I paid rent of about 8000 INR/month for a shared room in a 2 BHK, which was spacious and fully furnished. My total monthly expenses were between 15-20K INR, including everything. So, even someone with a basic entry level salary of 3.6 LPA can sustain in the city. Fast forward to 2024. You can still live under similar budgets if you want to. There are so many decent standalone apartments and independent houses that come at the modest costs. If one is going to the most expensive gated community with 10+ random features and stuff that are essentially luxuries, obviously the cost will be high. Here's an example of a 2 BHK flat with just 15K INR rent at 850 sqft. If shared between two people, your rent share will be lower than what I was paying, way back in 2019. Where's the inflation? Sure, some of these properties may have some issue related infrastructure and amenities, but there are many such places that are good enough too. As a young adult in Bangalore, saving on rent can compound your early savings by a lot, which could be invested elsewhere. As you grow in your career, you can slowly do lifestyle inflation instead of landing directly at some 50K rent gated community. Especially, if you are starting from zero, by yourself and without random inheritance wealth.
